On behalf of a female chum, can anyone in the know offer some pointers for the best websites & recruitment agencies for PA & sec jobs- London & SE.

Shes been working overseas & not really sure on best way forward for UK job search.

There are a number of secretarial agencies in the City. My best advice would be to visit one of the websites such as Jobsite etc, do a quick search and make a list of the agencies that crop up.

Tell her to look in the broadsheets sits vacant pages as some good jobs turn up there.

Internet is great for research so she could find out which companies have HQ's in her area and try approaching their HR departments.

Temping for a while can also assist in finding permanent employment, plus it gives you some cash whilst you look around.

Is she looking for temping work or permy?

If she's got admin skills but not great PA experience then a permy role in the right company is the way forward... My girlfriend was working reception 5 years ago, since then she's moved up the ranks through hard work and being the right person for the job to the CEO's PA and more than doubled her salary. Wouldn't have happened in temp work but you also need to be in a company that's a) big enough (she's in a 1000+ employee company) and b) the company needs to be 'young' in outlook to promote on merit not time served.
