Usually I get hayfever from the beginning of June for about two weeks... Only this year, it's been going for 10 weeks, and still going strong!

I've tried everything - all the various tablets which stop the sneezing, but not the bunged up-ness. Various spray things, which work for all of 5 minutes still the snot is streaming again, Olbas oil on a tissue or the pillow is good, but not for very long... It's driving me nuts, haven't been able to eat without holding my breath for 2 months and I keep waking the girlfriend up with horrendously loud breathing in the mornings, which isn't good! Also, the excess snot (sorry for the mental image!) has clogged one of my ears up, which needs syringing according to the GP, and my sinuses are really sore too...

Anyone got any good old fashioned remedies or tricks to de-snot oneself??

It's a bitch innit! I spend all day yesterday sneezing my head off. Eyes streaming, head pounding, throat tight and full of snot. I even slept on the sofa so I did not keep waking the wife up.
If you find a cure please let me know

Have you tried melting a teaspoon or two of Vicks Vapour Rub in a bowl of very hot water, and inhaling the fumes?

Technique is such: Place large towel over back of head, so that it hangs down in such a fashion as to cover the bowl, effectively creating a tent containing your head and bowl. Close eyes, very tightly, and place Vicks into bowl. Inhale until you can stand no more.

Probably not a permanent solution but may help clear you out a bit.

I did try that... Also tried with Olbas oil in the bowl, and then a concoction of a few different decongestant oils that miss timbob had in the aromatheapy box.

It's all good, but after 20 minutes again, I'm sneezing and blowing my nose ever 30 seconds

Apparently, a spoonful of local honey first thing in the morning can help.

However, this sounds like a load of old bs to me....

Get some menthol crystals from a pharmacy.

Sprinkle a few in a mug of hot water and inhale. Wait for head to explode.

I find it tends to clear things rather effectively, and usually for longer than the various oils and potions that are available.

Also making a mild solution of Epsom salts and cleaning the nasal passages all through (yoga-wise sniffing through) every morning will help, as does a healthy dose of ascorbic acid powder (Vit C) half a teaspoon daily has helped me!!!

Just don't do the same with raisins.

I had to have them removed at the hospital...

I've got a mate who has hayfever all year round. I remember last winter he was there in the snow and a tissue wiping his nose.

This was before he went for his injection for it!

I'm not too sure about the details as I didn't really ask but its apparently injected in the ass cheek!

If its gotten to the stage where you've tried everything else to no avail, then its definetly worth asking your GP about it.

My mates completely fine for a good 8-9 months at least.

Good luck! I know how bad it is when you've got it but fotunatly the tablets are enough for me

Cheers

Jack
