All those occupations (well except car machanics) are probably the most common occupations you see professional Australains in over here. Mainly because we get paid more here and it's easier to get working permits here than places like the USA. The amusing thing that I was discussing with my English relatives was that occupations like accounting/engineering/medical/teaching/police etc are in shortage in both countries so each country tries to recruit from the other country to quickly fix the problem, but all it does it equalise the problem!
So in Australia we find a lot of Brits in these occupations and over here it's Australians (along with every other country on earth and a few neighbouring planets it seems).
I imagine a lot of those jobs though are in crappy country areas where noone wants to work because everyone wants to work in the city. So they are going to lure all these immigrants in who will probably think they are going to Sydney to work in an office overlooking the harbour and will end up in some godforsaken outback hellhole in the middle of nowhere (though at least in the NT there is no speed limit).

. On a more serious note I do hear a lot complaints from Poms who can't get in for all sorts of petty and ridiculous reasons, and this from a government that is desperate to increase the population but wont let anyone into the country, fecking idiots, but thats governments for you.

)Yeah I have noticed the Australian side of the family looks far better than the poor English side who are basically just overweight and balding versions of us.
You could always try NZ, once you have citizenship there its just a simple jump across to Australia, our biggest group of immigrants are NZers, followed by Brits. Still that would take ages and would also involve living in NZ for while, which is reason enough not to bother.

I have an Aussie girlfriend (we don't get to see that much of each other though due to the 12000 mile distance part!) but trying to find ways for me to move there are a nightmare! she's a teacher, i'm just an office Monkey so i would need to move as she has a fantastic job. The whole marrige thing is a bit of a no-no and my company (a global player apparently) doen't allow international transfers.
