Best deals on car loans?

Simple really, who's doing good deals at the moment? I know I can get 6.4% from Lombard, who have been fine all the years I've been with them but are any others doing good deals? Looking for about £16K over 3 years.

16k over 3 years, no deferred payment = 484.23 a month ==> 17432.17 total repayable

depends how much you're going to borrow, I could work it out...

for example, could do a completely fees free remortgage with RBOS at a fixed rate of say 5.1% (ish) over say 5 years...would save quite a bit of cash against a personal loan. quite popular at the moment.

edit: the rate is not the best on the market but if you wanted 4.15% the fees you'd have to pay would make it prohibitively expensive (lenders arrangement + val + legals + tt fee)

I just got a £5,000 loan with them for 5.7%, very easy to deal with

Loan approved, but talk about hard sell on the "loan repayment protection"... I've got no mortgage and £55K+ invested. This was covered in the application.

"We think you're at risk" etc.... Took me a good ten minutes to explain I don't want it. "But what if you're off work?" I've got 55K, I can go a couple of years without a salary.... "But what about after that?" I'll either be permanently incapacitated or working again. "But don't you want to protect your savings?" No, the money is there for emergencies, that would be an emergency.... And on and on ad infinitum..... Sounded like a bad case of "Would you like fies with that!"

Do any of these loans give better rates is secured on the car? Also are there any which don't penalise you for making big overpayments?
