Harvard claims to have made progress. If so, this would be great.

Would be great. Might stop people having genetically matched kids cos the eldest has some disease cant cure without the kids cells/marrow/blood.

Its a long way off being a routine lab technique but very very useful work. Growing stem cells is not that difficult, getting the paper work to grow them is almost impossible. Hopefully with this work it will be possible for many more labs to undertake stem cell research. The main limiting factor is that these cells are not stem cells but merely stem cell-like. That's a pretty major caveat when dealing with such a poorly understood experimental system. I can see this system being used in preliminary studies and then once data is obtained licences would be applied for to use true stem cells. Great work though. Kevin Eggans, a very talented guy.
