Well do you recon you were born too early or too late ?

Personally I think too late, I'd love to have seen Led Zep and Hendrix live.
Buying a brand new SD1 Vitesse would have been seriously cool too :bounce:

Too early - would love to have been a kid that got properly involved in computers.

Even more so, would love to live to see commercially viable spaceflight.

Too late

Landed Gentry born around to turn of the century to hit 20's in the 20's would have been ideal.

Half and half.

I would love to have been around at the time of the industrial revolution, when engineering really started to take off, and it was all new.

I often get the impression now that even though new things are happening and being invented, there is a sense of 'seen it all before'. There is no mystery any more.

I would also like to see where we are in 100-200 years time - whether we have been able to make use of the technology we now have and eradicate some of the major human problems we have the capability to solve, or if we are still bickering amongst our selves.

Two answers to that one:

Too late. A few years earlier and I recon I could have been a website millionaire. By the time I was old enough, the web bubble had burst

And way too late and wrong county. I would love to have lived in 50s/60s America as a teenager with all the hot rods, cool music etc

Far too early. I would love to be around in 200 years or so (providing the human race hasnt wiped itself out in a huge atomic fireworks display) to see what has been acomplished.

Read Steven Baxters 'Evolution' for a rather depressing take on that question.

far too late. if i could have been in my early 20s around 1922 that would have been perfect. All those young ladies in corsets just as Jane Austen described, shooting parties at a Country mansion somewhere, and then the Bentley at Le Mans and Brooklands....

edited to add it would appear nonegreen and plotloss also share the ldylic view of the twenties! perhaps there could have been a PH of the time where we spent our days berating those horrible early landaulettes getting in the way of our sportscars...

I would have liked to have been born perhaps just a couple of years earlier. I would have been a punk at the age of about 12, a new romantic at the age of 16 and then even more of a serious raver during the real 'underground' period a couple of years before I actually started 'raving'.

All music based, then... no desire to see Brunel building bridges or a Virgin Shuttle moon trip...

Hear hear,

Brought up in Brideshead Revisited style country estate with lots of sexy young housemaids to show the young master the way ahead.

Cad about town in the late 20's/early 30's, but laying down large collection of art deco items for my descendants to inherit.

Heroic war, if there can be such a thing, Battle of Britain fighter pilot or early SAS in the desert perhaps.

Multi millionaire industrialist or property developer after the war - think of all those bomb sites in the City!

Passing away in the arms of two mini skirted bimbos in the early 70's.

What an epitaph!

Hmm, would be nice to have been born ‘into money’ about 1902ish but with the knowledge I have now. No I’m not talking about having a copy of Moores with me, but that would be nice…

“Now listen WO, ignore that cad Tim and his supercharger ideas, what you want is a turbo charger…”

“Right Sheik xxxx so your are saying you want 100 camels for that 100 acres in the desert and extraction rights to the remainder of your lands for the next 100 years… That’s one hard bargain but I think we’re close to a deal.”

Also remembering the grand kids – “Pease make a concerted attempt to contact a Mr W. Gates, USA . Suggest that you agree to back his business venture in computing software, don’t worry you will know what it is then, in return for 50% of the gross profit…”

Not sure I want to know about the future till it happens.
