I realise that this is probably a personal bug bear but I'm sat at work and they keep playing this song James Blunt You're beautiful.

very good song, sung well I'll admit but

My life is brilliant.
My love is pure.
I saw an angel.
Of that I'm sure.
She smiled at me on the subway.
She was with another man.
But I won't lose no sleep on that,
'Cause I've got a plan.

You're beautiful. You're beautiful.
You're beautiful, it's true.
I saw you face in a crowded place,
And I don't know what to do,
'Cause I'll never be with you.

look either youve got a plan or you havnt! is it just me or is this really lasy song writing. look it dosnt make sense Jmaes shut up and go away.

there feel better now. just me? thought so. I need sleep sorry

I thought that too, but it consumed my mind for approximately 3.5 seconds.

not as good as:

"I close my eyes,
drew back the curtain,
to see for certain.....
what i thuoght i knew"

in terms of lyrical nonsense though.

that James Blunt was in the army apparently. makes you think what other talents our humble squaddies have though downing 15 pints i do not count as a talent....

It is a stupid soppy song.

How many people have used that at wedding this summer?

Most lyrics don't make sense anyway.

If you want lyrical nonsense;

We skipped the light fandango
turned cartwheels 'cross the floor
I was feeling kinda seasick
but the crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder
as the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink
the waiter brought a tray
And so it was that later
as the miller told his tale
that her face, at first just ghostly,
turned a whiter shade of pale
She said, 'There is no reason
and the truth is plain to see.'
But I wandered through my playing cards
and would not let her be
one of sixteen vestal virgins
who were leaving for the coast
and although my eyes were open
they might have just as well've been closed
She said, 'I'm home on shore leave,'
though in truth we were at sea
so I took her by the looking glass
and forced her to agree
saying, 'You must be the mermaid
who took Neptune for a ride.'
But she smiled at me so sadly
that my anger straightway died
If music be the food of love
then laughter is its queen
and likewise if behind is in front
then dirt in truth is clean
My mouth by then like cardboard
seemed to slip straight through my head
So we crash-dived straightway quickly
and attacked the ocean bed

I had that at my wedding. (instrumental)

I know - that bugs me.

People dedicate it to their darlings on the radio all day too - do people not have brains, or is it only the 'you're beautiful' line that matters?

if you are looking for lyrical nonsense then just take a peek at the inside of a chilli peppers album sleeve. dont get me wrong, i like their music but a lot of it just seems to be saying the names of any random object they can see and tehn adding a completely illogical adjective.

try hundred reasons...bought their album listened to it once and thought the lyrics were insultingly bad. threw it out with the trash.

Yeah but the best line in ever is in the Chillies Scar Tissue. "ill make it to the moon if i have to crawl"

And Van Morisson is the ONLY song writer with the skills required to get the word Rhodadendron into a song!

In a similar vein, Kanye West's "Gold-digger" song that's played every 7.8 minutes on R@di0 1..

Line 5 "...Oh, she's a gold-digger..."
Line 8 "Now I aint sayin’ she’s a Gold-digger...”

Oi!! Kanye!! You just did!!!!

Pesty - Know what you mean about a personal bug bear. (Now that I've got that off my chest, this thread can now return to obscurity)

Right, his plan is to shag the girl. But he doesn't now how to go about it. So he doesn't know what to do.

Doesn't mean he hasn't got the plan though

As much as I hate to agree with nervy, Coldplay can indeed burn in hell.

.....[blah blah blah]....
Yes you caught my eye,
As I walked on by
She could see it in my face
that I was f**king high

I'm not surprised she doesnt want to go out with him if hes on drugs....

Songs don't have to make perfect sense, they just need to touch your soul.
