For the 90s one i am sure it was the nissan serena diesel in terms of acceleration. but there's no doubt in my mind that someone won't find something more obscure...
God - I've driven one of those!!! Damn aweful things - slow doesnt even begin to describe it!
for some reason it has stuck in my brain that it does/did 0-60 in 22seconds...that's slooooow!
somebody asked how fast my car was the other day..I took a modicum of pleasure in explaining that if we started next to each other when he got to 60 i'd be doing 115

The super beetle had a 1600cc engine, and was one of the faster beetles....now the original 1131cc split window standard model beetle on the other hand...
1945-1953 Volkswagen beetle 1131cc (standard model)
0-60.......37.2 secs
top seed...64mph
power......25bhp@3300
1/4 mile....forget it!

I remember that the Volvo 360GLE/GLT range had the accolade of the slowest 2 litre fuel injected car you could buy, a basic 1.3 carburetted Austin Maestro/Ford Escort was loads quicker.

skip to "why would I want one" (actually thats a good question, having driven one I can agree they are hatefull little things) but I doubt a 1.3 maestro would do 0-60 in less than 10 secs.
My mother's W reg Skoda Fabia 1.9 SDi. Yep, an unblown oil burner.
The Skoda website says:-
Max Power bhp [kw]/rpm 64 [47] /4000
Max Torque lb.ft[Nm]/rpm 92 [125] /1600
Max Speed mph [km/h] 96 [154]
Acceleration 0-62mph 18.6
All lies. I've thrashed the thing to within an inch of its life and couldn't get much past an indicated 80mph.
