I touch my wood too. It's about as much excitement as I get so might as well make the most of it

No, not really, although I do have an aversion to 'odd' numbers on the stereo's volume, always has to be on an 'even' number. And the air vents all have to be perfectly aligned, oh and the seat belt height adjusters have to be the same both sides, oh and the rake of both the front seats has to be the same, and the headrest heights. And I dont like twisted seat belt webbings, and the webbings have to be 'just so' with the buckles nice and tidy and retracted when not in use. And no clutter allowed anywhere.

So your stereo only goes up to 10 then?

Just remembered - I hate it if my other half gets out of the drivers seat without pushing the seat all the way back first. And I won't get in if the seat is not pushed right back. Oh dear.

Not so much superstition but habit, I usually put my foot on the brake or clutch (depending on manual or auto) and check the car is out of gear before turning the key. Also like to give the car a quick once over just to make sure there is no pool of oil or coolant under the car or no flat tyres. I also usually hold my breath and pray in the hope that it will start.

Can you tell I mainly drive older cars?

Always put my foot on the clutch.

This comes from having started the car when it's in gear before... Not so bad, only at the time I was stood outside the car, leaning in.

I had to run after it and dive in, Dukes Of Hazzard style.

I always select neutral...ever since I pressed the clutch, and the plates had stuck together!

Off topic, but that reminds me of a mate of mine in Liverpool who has a cat that got hit by a car when it was little and can only turn right now (suffered head damage on one side).

So if it wants to turn left it has to do three rights!! True I swear!

Bless.....

Cats name is Lucky!!

OK, carry on.....

Yes, but to be fair, Sir, you do drive a particularly 'correct' car...

I've got a pigeon like that. I'm not sure if he hit his head doing a crash landing on his first flight or if he got PMV which is a pigeon disease that has a similar effect, but he's always circling to the right and can't fly properly... I found him running about in the ground because while he'd probably been able to find food he hadn't been able to eat it because he couldn't peck straight, so he'd got too weak to try and fly. But given a big pile of food so inaccurate pecking still gets something, and no predators, he's doing fine.
