Readers may remember my ineptitude at cooking rice.

However, a culinary genius lurks within. As a result of a happy accident (don't laugh, that's how they discovered that meat tastes better cooked than raw) I am now in a position to recommend that before you stick your Stilton on your cracker, add a smear of honey first.

If you really want to experiment in the kitchen and investigate the science of cooking, try Heston Bluementhal's (owner of The Fat Duck in Bray, best restaurant in the world) Kitchen Chemistry, published by the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Cheese combo's.

Wensleydale. Lancashire and white cheshire also rather pleasant with honey (clear honey - Acacia or similar preferred. Borage Honey is the real stuff if you can get it!)

Variation.

Brie with Mango Chutney.

International variation:

Easy starter - Large (v. large) pickled gherkin, clear honey (as above) and sour cream. One or more of the former and a dollop of each of the latter on a plate.

Dip the gherkin in either or both of the others as required. Makes the taste buds tingle. A good quality gherkin is advised for maxiumu effect. It;s a Russian recipe apparently so if you can get hold of a nice bottle of Georgian Red wine so much the better. Or Orange vodka.

No it doesn't... well not more than "Very blue", anyway.
