Right, at the ripe old age of 28 I am off to the closing parties. Haven't been to the island for 3 years, and am doing it in a very different way; staying at Es Vive in Ibiza Town (no nasty cheap hotels in or anywhere near San Antonio, thanks), all relevant closing parties already paid for an guestlisted, so no queues, and a decent car rented for trips into the countryside. Also going for a full 10 days, so opportunity for days off as a break from the clubbing.
1) This all makes me feel middle aged but I just don't think I could take 10 days of break-free mentalism and not die.
2) Any tips for stuff to do in Ibiza Town and nearby that doesn't involve clubbing, for the days off? Good seafood restaurant recommendations always welcome...
3) Anyone else going?
Yours,
Harry (28 going on 50)

Hi Harry, much the same. The Princess and I are going to Portinax (north side of the isle) shortly, just confirming dates, staying full board in a pretty hotel on the beach. And going into San An a couple of times by boat.
Did the same last year..nice to see a bit of hedonism but then sleep in the next morning and maybe a fresh fish lunch and a couple of glass' of a good wine in the afternoon.
Just don't spend too much time staring at the 18yo beauties in the clubs and convince yourself your 20 again!

Sounds like a great break you've got booked - love it!
Parties aside, yes there is so much more to Ibiza.
You probably already know about Ibiza town, great atmosphere.
Lots of great beaches: Benniras is great hippy groove, very laid back with drums at sunset on some evenings. After that its only a short drive to Na Xamena to the Hacienda Hotel; great place for an evening drink, even a meal if you have spare cash.
Las Salinas has good music and Restaurant at the far end.
Es Cavallet (dont go to the far end, unless you like the gay scene)- great restaurant with music (I think it belongs to Pacha)
Cala d'Hort with views of mystical Es Vedra... (sunset too)
There is great countryside around Santa Ines, San Miguel, Balafi, Jesus, Santa Gertrudis....
Yeah, I know San Antonio has its reputation but early evening; Cafe Mambo, Del Mar and watch the sunset is still a fabulous experience.
Then there's Formentera - just dont leave without a good full day visiting.
You guessed that I love it.

Ah - and you clearly had a good time; you're going back! Encouraging - and hear you on decent eating out/interspersing the mentalness with some high quality R&R.
As for the 18 year olds - trust me, I'm no dribbling perve.
ok I might be lying but I won't try anything honest I don't want to go to a Spanish jail anyway

Brilliant, and thanks. The only times I have been have been non-stop clubbing; I want to do things slightly differently this year. This all sounds like a good start...
Ibiza Town is great - so glad to be avoiding San Antonio...
