I was interested to hear about Owen going to Newcastle, as was a regular season ticket holder until a couple of years ago. (I didn't renew as needed the money for other things, but still watch them as much as I can).
A few questions though:
Can Newcastle again put all the owness on one or two new players to turn around their fortunes? Methinks they have been there before: Cole, Thomasson, Solano, Mirandinha, Ferdinand, Asprilla, Saha, Keegan etc. It hasn't exactly won them much in the past, so why will it now?
Also as the press were reporting yesterday that his "first choice" was to go to Liverpool, but he ended up with no real options and so accepted the Newcastle offer. This concerns me, and I wonder if he has accepted to get him back into UK football now rather than later and to get a decent pay cheque (something the club is good at doing ). But is his heart ever going to be in it?
Seems as though he could be a costly 'temporary member' of the team until something better comes along for him?
I really hope that I am wrong and that it does work out, but can't help that feeling of Deja-Vue.
Cerby.

I heard him on the radio earlier saying that he'd had sleepness nights mulling over whether to stay in Madrid, go to Liverpool or Newcastle. As far as I can gather however, going to Liverpool was not a decision for him to make if they weren't willing to stump up an additional £8m to bring him back. I don't think the Liverpool board were ever going to that (extremely bad business) so really the only choice he personally could make was whether to stay at Real or come to the Toon.

Still, we desperately need some pace up front and I can't wait for Fulham a week Saturady! I hear 20,000 fans swarmed to the Leazes end to give him a welcome.

Good point! As I said originally I hope I am wrong, but just have that feeling of history repeating itself.

Lets face it if Liverpool were in the hunt they would have got him. I personally think, he'll be a good signing for Newcastle and will do the business. By God, you deserve a bit of something!

All the best

Not sure they deserve anything. Newcastle have spent a fair amount over the years... I think they deserve exactly what tey deserve!
The team woud do fine, if Souness and his magnificent management style was not in the way!

Afraid I agree with you cerby4.5 - hope we're proved wrong.
