Anyone tried growing it? and i mean tobacco not the wacky kind.
Is it legal to grow your own and would it still contain the harmfull substances that commercial stuff does?

I have no idea about it's legality in UK but since it's grown mostly in the South here in the US I would think the climate there is too cold for growing it successfully.

You might grow it in a greenhouse, you might even need to apply grow lights.

Yes you can grow it in the UK and no it’s not illegal. You highly unlikely to get a good quality crop though growing it outside. If you have a polytunnel/greenhouse which you can keep warm with a heater and possibly some artificial light if needed you may get something usable.

Have a vague memory of seeing a gardening programme years ago and they were growing tobacco plants in some Victorian type greenhouse. Don't know, but it may have been demonstrating how the victorians grew them in the UK
