Addicted to the internet?
Discussion
Up until 5 years ago I went to the gym 3 times a week,Muay Thai twice a week, regularly walked up great big hills and played five a side football every Sunday night.
I was a lean mean fighting machine and I felt good
now? errr I go on the internet and pretty much thats it.:(
I walk in the house... Internet
Get into work....Internet
I think I'm bloody addicted to it. How do I wean myself off it and get a life again? is there a Betty Ford clinic for sad gits like me?
I mean ffs its 2am and Im sat here like a lemon typing away to a bloody computer screen. why is that?
its 05:19 and im sat here typing away too, although drinking red bull when i was out is to blame for that. i still lead the life i always did, although rather than sit watching mind numbing tv in my spare time i come on places like this and learn something new. so long as you are learning something i see no problem for you

Me thinks that being addicted to the Internet is a bad thing. However, weening yourself off of the internet by starting an internet thread about the problem, is rather like an alcaholic saying to his mates "I think I've got a drinking problem, can we have a chat about it down the pub tonight".

Ironic that this is posted in a Virtual Pub as well
I'm a bit addicted myself, but I can usually retain enough self control to do normal stuff and switch it off to go to sleep. The curse of unlimited always on broadband though is that there is no limit to stop you these days

Pesty, it's not healthy. i went through a similar phase of spending most of my free time on the net.
i think i spent a good year-and-a-half chatting on MSN and other chat rooms.. a habit i developed whilst i was a postgrad at uni (computing & multimedia)
I wasn't even productive - i suppose the Net equivalent of flicking through free TV. my main regret was that i could have spent the time on real hobbies (for me music & socialising).

That reminds me of my last 6 months of Uni when I only had a couple of subjects and shortly afterwards when I was unemployed for a couple of months, too much free time.

Anyone want to take a challenge of not looking at PH for a week?
I tried this once. Lasted 3 days.
Its so bad, I've printed a copy of the main menu and stuck it on my headboard in the bedroom. My missus thinks I'm mad. Particularly as I recited 0-60 times whilst giving it to her doggy style.
There must be a direct correlation between the introduction of broadband and the subsequent fall in productivity at work.
I have one of those jobs (mature student but back at work in hols) where you can pretty much have the browser on all day and flick between it and working. Just gotta be careful when someone.......................'alt-tab'

Just found this Article on Internet gaming addiction on the Beeb website, fairly closely related to plain old internet addiction I 'spose. Might be of interest to some.

When on holidays I just skip the thought. When back I check My Stuff . . .
Everyday I have to get some info and there's just so much stuff out there . . . The trouble is you don't know what is true and what is utter nonsense . . . This is for starters.

I used to be addicted to that goggle box but it's not worth watching any more so this is my main entertainment system.
