I'm going to a fancy dress party later this year and was originally going to go as Roy Cropper from Coronation Street but have since decided that it would be a bit too obscure.

I'm now thinking of going as a robot, albeit an everso slightly crap one.

In order to achieve the desired level of crapness I'm going to make my own outfit probably consisting of carboard boxes/shoe boxes etc but I'm struggling a bit with the arms and legs.

I want some sort of flexible ducting that will be resonably comfortable with no sharp edges so preferably plastic/PVC or similar. Trouble is I don't know where to find this sort of stuff as it has to be quite large in diameter to fit and I only need a small amount.

Any suggestions?

Bedford is on to something, but as he says, it may be too small. Might be ok for arms though, depending on your build.

i agree.

but what about that stuff they use when they are burying electricity/cable cables if you need extra girth?!

what about using the tumble dryer hose but cutting it open and joining it to another cut open length of hose? that way you have a larger diameter tube.

this will probably look crap but if that is the look you are going for then it should be fine!

two mates and myself went to a fancy dress party as boxes. just big crisp boxes with smaller ones for the head and a straw attached so we could (obviously) drink.

The hosts spend about £200 on accurate roman costumes - and were overshadowed by our free outfits. loads of free drinks 'cos of the straws too..!

You need a ducting shop (heating and ventilation) flexible ducting up to 9" diameter, expect to pay £3 - £4 per metre.

Ducting for an extractor fan might do the job, though...

Thanks people. Just done a bit of googling and there's a plumping/heating place within spitting distance of my flat. I'll go and do some investigating at the weekend.

Baskey, I was going to go 'open face', but straws are quite clearly the way forward
