So our illustrious Prime Minister has finally realised that somebody has to do something to stop this countries decline into yobbish ruin, and someone more intelligent than him has managed to explain that the PM needs to do a complete U-turn, and start doing something about it.

So all hail Blair. He has honourable intentions to clean up this country. May I suggest he starts by moving the yobs out of number 10.

No I want them to have another term so when we vote them out we banish them forever. I suppose an even better alternative would be a very short spell with the Lib Dem nutters. Six weeks would be enough then even the thickest of housewives from Wilmslow will know the whole Liberal idea is utter shite.

Nonners, really me ol' mucker!...........Although I DO agree on the subject of Mr "B".

Our nation has been "feched" in truth since the early 1900's.........(not many people here realise this).

Don't believe me? Ask an historian or Economist!
We have been on a very slippery slope every since the end of the Victorian industrial revolution.

Two world wars, both re-enforced our idea's of "invunerability" whilst in truth the world was catching up fast and learning from our lead. America was finding it's feet and strength by simple virtue of it's size, and a "defeated" Germany overtook us before 1960.(mind you the US dollars from "the Marshall plan" did come in handy for them).

We lingered on, but the sudden change to "Americanist style Capitalism" by Margaret Thatcher and "society does NOT exist" principle completed the de- industrialisation of Britain.

We are now............suffering the consequences of our short sightedness.

But if that means that we have to go go back to the living standards or the society of the Victorians then .....NO!!! I'll fight you all the way Nonners.

I always enjoy your posts me old mate even thogh I don't always agree, but hey!, that's life ain't it?

But to be frank, Placed in such a position of "servitude" by which the right wing in this country would like to see. I have to say that I'd join the Pikeys first rather than work for such an employer, then I'd go and Steal from their houses and their cars and create the "south African" type society that we are witnessing now in New Orleans.........

I have not forgotten the pictures of his drunken son in the papers the week he was banging on about the yobbish culture. He shut up when it showed this problem was closer to home than he wished! He now goes on about it again. Sorry its all talk and PR media headlining crap.
99% of problems would be cured by having someone wandering around the place keeping an eye on things. Oh, sorry thats too hard to understand.

I read so many politics books and got bloody angry, used to read the papers and watch the news, more doom and gloom. Any government we elect are completely ineffective and stupid, short sighted and idiot pandering.

I haven't watched television or read a paper for about 6 months, I couldn't give a shit, regardless of who's doing it, you can be sure of something, they'll it up. There's nothing I can do about it apart from voting C've. Since I really have stopped giving a shit, I feel much better.

Just like my good old political theory books, liberalism is filled with idealistic shite, universities are filled with too many idiots who take this stuff as gospel, they go straight into government and this is the result. No-one has a good hands on approach. I would put more faith in the average building site tea cabin contents than that of most politics departments. It seems all the people want the same things, apart from all 3 parties will not deliver.

I have totally given up giving a toss, they can this country up and as long as I can bury my head in the sand, I couldn't give a monkeys.

More spin, he's just tapped into another of the public's main concerns and is pretending to do something about it.

That's all his supposed "big conversation" was for, to look like he was doing what the people wanted.

although i can see your logic in this idea i think it would be scary if it happened, personally i would like to see a nice centre right Tory government back in power, develop the points system for entry to Britian(much like Australia) so we are not such a soft touch, and re estblish our national identity that Labour has fought so hard to ruin, but then im from surrey and most of the occupants of this county (and many others) probably have similar views,i remember a few weeks before the election the usual door knocks came and when the Lib Dem and Labour candidates came over my reply was "can i just stop you there"before they even introduced themselves,"i disagree with nearly everything your party stands for and you wont be getting my vote"then shut the door in thier face.

Good.

I don't care if his son once embarrased him by getting drunk. I just want drink-crime sorted.

This is just the same as not caring if M Howards grandfather was an illegal immigrant in the 40's. I just want immigration sorted.

And just for the record:

I don't care if the minister for education sends his or her children to school x or to school y or what the hell they teach there or if it is a state school. I just want education sorted.

I don't care the minister for health ever uses the NHS. I just want it sorted.

Is anyone listening? I don't care who sorts these things out. I don't care what they, their friends or their families did or didn't do now or a hundred years ago. I just want it sorted!

Could not agree more with your sentiments I suggest there is a new right wing which will emerge. I would hate to see a continuance of the tory centre right striving for the mediocre. Why would anyone want to return to the living standards of the Victorians? I suggest that the anti car anti technology stance of the Lib Dems and New Labour is far more likely to send us down that route than a radical shake up from the centre right would. What is needed is a revival of right wing politics with a libertarian aproach. Blair is no different to Stalin and Thatcher was no different to Hitler. We need a change.

I certainly agree with that, but Maggie was a little different from Adolf, however, for certain some members of society whom she disliked were also disliked by AH.

Bush said something like "We will treat people looting food and water the same as looters taking tv's etc".

Hang on Bush, you are sitting in your whitehouse, well fed and watered, and folk in New Orleans are starving and dehydrated, for gods sake Bush, get a grip on life.

Y'know folks, I attended a meeting at work last week, and sitting there listening to the "goings on" I suddenly realised that I was in the middle of that scene in the final episode of HHGTTG!

Y'know the one, where the "middle men" are all sat around ....."debating" but never achieving anything because they haven't got a clue what the fech the real world is about!

........And this is a private company! Then I suddenly realised also that THIS must be what being in a government is like! ....................
