Do you know of anyway of watching TV on a Lap Top via the internet when in Cyprus.
I have not tried it yet but you can go on www.bbc.co.uk and listen to the radio when in England so you should be able to do that in Cyprus.
Is there a web site that that does TV.

You can usually watch streaming news footage, but if you want actual live tv broadcasts of exactly what is playing on free to air, then no. (unless someone else is naughtily streaming it somehow)

You need to buy and install a SLINGBOX.

www.slingmedia.com/slingbox/

Works well apparently.

wow good find, I'll plug it in back home and have TV on my laptop and to hell with the BBC and its licence fee

Rather pricey way of doing it, just to catch the news though

What a fanstastic idea! However I doubt the quality will be that great with a 256k upload speed on ADSL, which is what most broadband users have.

Roll on SDSL..

If you've got ADSL, your upload speed will be 0.25Mb/sec no matter what your download speed, so using this device above you're no better off than someone with the basic 512K broadband.

However your 7.2 is a bit slow compared to this! www.bethere.co.uk/

24Mb/sec! With uploads of 1Mb/sec. I believe it's based on ADSL 2+ technology.

SDSL is similar speed to ADSL BUT the point is it's symmetrical - upload speeds are the same as download speeds. Actually I'd guess that it can't reach the max download speeds of ADSL. I had a quick search and found www.newnet.co.uk that do up to 2Mb each way so far but there's no reason why it can't reach at least 5Mbps each way.

Then there's VDSL, which is where it gets super fast at 52Mpbs! So about 7 times faster than yours.

Yours is still fast by the way, I'm on 1Mb which is enough for me (but I use the rest of the bandwidth for digital TV - www.homechoice.co.uk
