Sorry about the long URL, I'll visit tinyurl.com one day

Only carries 100 tunes though, which isn't as much as the SonyEricsson W800i

Just saw the CEO in an interview, they've also scrapped the mini iPod and replaced it with the NanoPod, a credit card thin version holding 1000 songs. Now THAT i may be interested in but I still like the 60Gb photo iPod.

Quite glad I bought those shares now

I think it'll be very popular. However it holds no more songs than a W800i phone (assuming you buy a 4Gb memory stick).

Of course, upside of using a phone is not having to carry 2 things around (and the W800i has flight mode, which turns the phone off but the music player works) but the downside is not having any battery life left to use the phone when you get where you're going!

Battery technology just hasn't kept up with the demand for power in these devices

At the moment i'm thinking about getting a new player. My choice is between:

40gig Apple Ipod - Muchos capacity, well built, but bland and has a reputation for being a product for fashion victims. The Audi TT of MP3 players

30gig Creative Zen Xtra - Not so much capacity, but well built and cheaper for the same thing. The only problem is it doesnt come in black.

20gig Rio Karma - Not so much capacity again but wins hands down so far for having a proper ethernet port.

What do you guys think?

Get the ipod. Its not just about the player, its also about the software.

itunes is fantastic. Much better than the others, and the interface works really nicely.

A couple of friends have the Sony version, whatever it's called, and swear by it. Reason being, the battery life is far far better than any competitor (they reckon, I've not tried it)

No advantage over the phones available here, but this is only aimed at the USA at the moment, who are way behind Europe in adopting new cellphone technology. They've not long been using SMS for instance, let alone more advanced stuff like MMS or 3G.

Talking of the US, Nokia are starting to make quad band phones which you really should be able to use anywhere with a cell network. They are also wifi enabled.

ebayclicky

They're on ebay already...Give it 6 months (and price drop to below £150), and i think i'll upgrade from my 20gb mono screen ipod (i'm only using 3gig of it), to the 4gb black Nano

Whats the advantage of iTunes over say the drag and drop system which is what my current ancient (128mb!) player uses and is about as simple as it gets?
