Any one got any views on these little wonders?
A few weeks a go the Sky remote was viciously attacked by some Chinesse sauce of some kind and now it eats batterys at the rate of a new set a week, and jumps 2 channels for ever one press of certain buttons
So rather than spend £15 on a new Sky remote I could use the excuse to buy a new gadget :)
Spotted this in Richer Sounds the other day....

which seemed a steel at £40 but the reviews I can find don't really sing it's praises :scratchchin:
Anyone got one, or what else is available on a similar budget, note the word similar so no telling me I want a 'whatever' at £250 ;)

we've got one of these...

about 60-70 quid.

Very easy to use, easy to set-up, but eats batteries (lasts about 6-8 weeks).

FG

edited to add: that it is the same manufacturer as the one Richer Sounds has.

I tried one, but it flushed the bog when the vicar was on it, and he's not been seen since.....

If you have a palm pilot, series60 mobile or simular with infared on it you can just get some softwear which will allow it to act as a remote.

Errrrrr no, a fancy remote is considered an extravagant luxury, and I couldn't do with racegirl texting the Video recorder

If you have a pocket pc, then you can use a universal remote control bit of software on that.

Works well...

Take it apart, scrub all the bits in hot soapy water with an old toothbrush, rinse in hot water and leave the bits to dry in the airing cupboard overnight.

Oh, sorry, have I just ruined your excuse?

Do these all-in -one remotes control fires as well?
To have 5 different remote control units to remotely control 5 different pieces of apparatus....is daft .

I have / had pretty much the best one - a pronto pro. Trouble is the screen was smashed when a mobile fell off the sofa onto it. They are very fragile! I've had the insurance money back but I won't buy another.

Trouble with these screen jobbies is you can't feel the buttons. You can use a Sky remote without looking, you've got to actually look down at these things and think about it.

Not a great deal of hardship I know, but I found it annoying and went back to having my 3 remotes on a glass dish set up.

Yep, that would be my modus operandi. Who, contrary to popular belief, was NOT a Roman centurion.

Even better excuse, buy a new decent Hi-Fi that comes with an all in one remote, kill two birds with one stone so to speak
