Chaps,

An interesting one that I have been thinking about recently - what are the most useful things you have learned in life that you didn't learn at school? These can include anything, but focussing more on non-academic subjects. So, "French at evening classes" doesn't count ...

... mine would be as follows;

How to coil a rope (or cable) properly
How to touch-type
Good manners
How to cook.

I'm sure that more will come to me in due course ...

What's yours?

Oli.

How to drive.
How to think.
How to drink (therefore forgetting above two)
How to do musical stuff.
How to use a computer.
How to argue/debate.
How to learn.

One important lesson learned at school, just because someone has authority doesn't mean they deserve respect.

Didn't learn it at school but got 'convicted' at the age of 8 for burning down a giant haystack. It was an accident really, you could see it for miles.

Always been fascinated with fire/fireworks/bombs etc.

I lost count of the amount of matchboxes I'd buy asa youngster and light one and put it back in flame first so the entire box went up and as for those butane gas canisters.........

Do I need help ?

Turning that on its head; I could have done without drama, RE and PE. I was young and fit FFS, what was the point of wasting my life chasing a bloody football?

Instead more practical things (like welding, bricklaying and making love to beautiful women ) and even, say, maths concepts that apply to the real world - how to calculate the gas bill, rather than p155ing Venn diagrams and 2x-(5y*(x squared + x)/(sqr(2y-y)/(x)))=5 would have been useful.

And if anyone solves that equation I'll kick their teeth in, smug bast@rds...

Mind you, I wouldn't have said no to more languages... but a bit of variety: all I did were French, Spanish and Latin. And English of course. And then there was that bit of classical Greek, oimoi...

I thought you went to a private school? Surely toast-rack practise was immediately after prep. but before lights-out?
