Regret not managing to see Maiden playing live recently. The last time I saw them was on the Seventh Son of a Seventh Son tour in 1987....

Lucozade advert? Phantom of the Opera? Daley Thompson? Now you're showing your age...

I saw the Maiden once - at UMIST in 79or80. Paul DiAnno (sp) still at the helm.

Supporting Saxon.

IMO Best Band in the World Ever (tm). Seen them in the UK at Earls Court in 2003 and then recently headlining OzzFest in Illinois - simply brilliant. Wish I'd seen them in the 80s, but was too young at the time.

For those of you who haven't got The History of Iron Maiden - Part I The Early Years, get it. It has some great early concert footage, including some stuff that Steve Harris found in his attic and was previously unreleased Also has a documentary on the band and their early struggles/line up changes.

I read somewhere that they were the biggest global selling UK act of the 80s....

Oh yes, the 'Live After Death' album recorded on the Powerslave Tour in 1985 is IMO the best 'best of' type album, though it obviously cuts out their later work.

Excellent band, got all the 80's albums on vinyl. Saw them in '87 (i think), headlining at Donington MOR. Stopped listening when Bruce left, now starting again.
Also attempting to replace all my vinyl with cd's, recently bought Number of the Beast.

Wasn't Bruce also close to making the British Olympic fencing team???
My old boss, a huge Texan guy called me just before Christmas a couple of years ago saying "I've met these guys in your local bar (I was living in Rio at the time) and we've partied all night. They say they're in a band called Iron Maiden? Have you heard of them? Anyway, they're great fun and have invited me backstage to "Rock in Rio" .... Pity you decided to go home for Christmas"
Needless to say I was kicking myself....

Last saw them in '92 at Donnington. Not my favourite band, but good all the same.

Back in my mis-spent youth, knowing the words to Number of the Beast was an essential .............................I'll get my zimmerframe

Just seen them at Reading right down at the front (the only reason I really went). Was awesome and only playing stuff off the first four albums.

They were playing live session stuff & intervies on radio one last night between 7 and 9 (recorded last week) but I wasnt here to post it then.

Should be able to listen on the web though.

Saw them at Hammersmith Odeon, 79, maybe 80, supporting ACDC on their Highway to Hell tour (Bon Scott days).

Average age of the band then... 16!!!

Scary for me, probably scary for them too now!

I'm a BIG Maiden fan .. though only seen them once at newcastle city hall about 1985. I'm still hoarse from the shouting 20 years on!

My top tip is buy the double DVD of their videos .. about 3 quid off ebay .. seeing the PD stuff is a hoot .. little did they know how big they would get!

Maiden totally rock!

Oh yes - The Maiden A band that has stood the test of time. Loved all of their stuff up to and including 7th Son, but then never really listened to their later stuff. Highlight songs - too many to mention, but Infinite Dreams and Hallowed Be They Name have to be up there

Got into them when Powerslave was released (best Studio album of theirs), and yep, Live after death was best Live album, but didn't get to see them until Somewhere on tour in Edinburgh, excellent gig with the inflatable hands !
Prefer Nicko as a drummer especially with the Sonor kits he had - why did he have to change to premier

Didn't rate 7th son so high, and after that I thought they lost it abit with Janic and Bruce troubles
