I caught a bit of "Wifeswap" on Channel 4 last night. The Chav father went out every night on the raz, and smoked cannabis three times a day in front of his young kids. Obvously most of his vocabulary consisted of the "F" word.

He didn't see a problem. He worked as a builder, so was not exactly a benefit scrounger.

Not only do I despair at the example total cretins like this are setting, but what is the legal position on this? Surely Plod should be round his house this morning and arresting the man?

Arresting him for a non-arrestable offence?

Though I agree on smoking in front of his kids.

is it a lot worse than getting pissed in front of his kids?

Only on the passive front I'd say, morally no different at all.

But is it non-arrestable if it is deemed to be harmful to children? IIRC isn't something like this deemed to be a form of abuse?

I was thinking the exact same thing!

He was a terrible example for his children, and was acting like a petulent child most of the time.

He saw the light toward the end though, which is encouraging.

Why is it so bad for a parent to smoke a joint, but its ok for a parent to have a drink of alcohol, or smoke a cigarette?

Of course, smoking is not to be encouraged in any way but if one disects the argument of booze v cannabis its almost impossible to seperate them.

I think it is far more serious swearing in front of young children than smoking a spliff in front of them.

95% of consumption is domestically produced apparently.

Margin doesnt justify crossing international borders.

Hooray for cottage industry.

Stopped watching this programme an age ago after that foul mouthed, beer bellied, breeding machine & her "depressed" husband on £40K a year benefits for their vast brood of children, polluted our screens last year.

As the purveyor of a new 42" TV, the fear of throwing something large, heavy & blunt at it is too much of a risk.

Still, according to the media, she is now a "Celebrity". Go figure.......

I don't believe that a parent should do any of the above in front of a child, my parents certainly didn't when I was young, and I wouldn't dream of drinking (I don't smoke or use drugs so they're not relevant) in front of my god-daughters.

Seems strange that people get so hot under the collar about drugs, drinking and smoking in front of their kids but that somehow being unable to maintain your own health through eating and exercise seem perfectly acceptable.

I don't regard smoking a joint in front of them as being any worse than smoking a cigarette in front of them.

While swearing in front of them means you are not providing any sort of moral guidance whatsover.
