Am I odd?

I would'nt recognise any of them even if I bumped into them in the street.
One or two of their names rings a bell, like Jordan ...and Kate Moss... and that's it really..

Is it just me or are there others out there who do not give a toss about them?

I can't understand what all the fuss is about.

I think the idea is that a number of models are selected by the 'industry' to be 'super models'. They therefore command the highest rates and then everybody knows that if they appear in your show then you are a senior fashion designer because you can afford the most expensive models (or maybe your name is Stella and you have a very rich daddy)

The Mirror must have been having a seriously slow news day for that to make the front page.

Read all about it: Super Model Uses Drugs!

'Supermodel' ???
more like spoilt little tart who happens to look good after a serious airbrushing session and a bucketful of makeup. Christ. Most are rough as a bulldog in the flesh. Just skinny and tall. Don't be fooled.
Personally I like the unfettled look of birds like VBH and Kirsty Young.

OK there are a few that look nice when 'OK' or 'Hello' flash 'em after a night of throwing back the shots and snorting Charlie, but only a few.

Haven't met any of them in person to qualify this by the way...

Only the teenage clothes horses. You have to see the swimwear and lingerie catwalk models, they'll make your eyes pop out. Not that I've been to a show of course it's only hearsay told to me by a friend of a friend's cousin who knows someone

"Supermodels" don't do what they do because they are so attractive men want to shag them. They are paid stupid money to be mobile coat hangers.

Going back to the Miss Moss incident, I do wonder what she has done to warrant such bad press. I mean, they make out like it's an unusual thing for people in her position to do.

How can you say such things about super-models. They are:

Salt of the earth.
Intelligent.
An asset to society.
Meek.
Kind and thoughtful.
Generous.
Understanding.
Gracious.
Creative thinkers.

If anybody in this world qualifies for a pocket camera, mate, it's you. If you don't have one, I have a spare Sony sitting around that I will be glad to send you... No charge... just post the pictures... In the meantime, I'll just watch the threads and remain impressed...

Not many are beautiful in the proper sense of the word. They usually have interesting eyes, but make up does the rest on aplain face ... to keep your attention off their wafer thing torso, no breasts and skinny legs.

I don't think you can acuse Cindy Crawford of being flat chested or wafer thin.

Another one of my faves is a Froggy model called Laetitia Casta. Again, she has an ample figure

I do agree about Kate Moss, though. When you see her snapped in everyday life by the paparazzi she looks extremely ordinary, if not rough.

But see her on screen or in an ad, with a little help from the make-up and lighting people and I think she looks stunning.

FWIW in my opinion, the era of the "Supermodel" peaked (fnarr) between 1988-1995. Anything after that have (with a few exceptions) been rail thin, heroin derived clothes hangers. For goodness sakes, give those girls a burger... and some supersize fries.

Which one was it who said, after she expressed support for starving Africans, something like: "I think starvation is really bad, but at least they're thin"?

Supermodel muddle or not, I'm off for a blast in the Griffith. It's a warm balmy evening, Mr Plod is safe in bed with Mrs Plod, the streets and roads are empty, it's time to scare cats, baffle bats, curdle the cream early milk floats, and wake up all the sleeping city as if the Devil himself had arrived for vengeance!

Till next time ... Mortals.

LOL. I'm stuck in a hotel in Manchester, but I wish I was at home with the Griff now, LA. Have a decent blast - my favourite gear is third. Give it some welly from me, but take care mate!!
