Not the most invigorating post, I'll grant you...

I had the dubious pleasure of cleaning mine today out of necessity and during the boredom I thought what's the best way?

Bath etc. is easy enough, but what order would you use to clean the dreaded bog and floor around it?

I'm thinking about cross contamination with bacteria, always a distinct possibility in my house! So, is the bog first job or the last?

I reckon tiles first, followed by the bath and then flat surfaces. Floor next, then bog. Fresh cloth, clean sink and then bleach. Every second saved counts when it comes to housework

As an aside, if anyone has a cleaner, how many hours a week do you have them and how much do they charge?

we have a cleaner come to our house at uni once a week, costs 25 notes. she does the washing up, drying, etc cleans the surfaces, and does the bathroom, usually give her a couple of quid as a tip as she does a nice job and is pretty fit

blimey thats cheap to get one here is mega expensive and they are like hens teeth, so I do all my cleaning myself, plus I'd rather spend the money on fuel for the tiv

Right this is how the other half does it.

1. Bathroom sink and surround tiles.
2. Bath, shower, tiles and window cill.
3. Toilet with an anti bacterial wipe to sanitise it.
4. Sweep or hoover floor and then wash with flash floor mop thingy.

Shut door and threaten death to whoever pee's on the floor again.

Takes her about 30 mins

As far as I'm concerned the bath, shower, sink and toilet are always sujected to running water so there are always being cleaned. The floor has mats, so just make sure you wash them every time you have a guest round!!

Ah, but I suspect you didn't have a child related 'incident' in the bathroom recently It had to be done

Well there is me and the housemate, both single (not co habiting at least) males so I'm guessing that we aren't that far up the evolutionary ladder just yet. But we do have a good aim during daylight hours...

Get a cleaner. It really improves quality of life if you are normal and can't be arsed spending all your time out of work cleaning. I pay 7 pounds an hour in London. 3 hours is enough for the flat and ironing.

That's about what I was thinking, I would expect about £5 an hour round these parts for three hours a week. No Ironing as that already goes to Morrisons.

TBH, I currently spend less than one hour a month cleaning

Should give me some time to build the clutch leg up Dan

lol I broke my ankle in a minibus crash when I was 17. Made driving a complete nightmare for months, especially in traffic. Got better in the end though.

Anyway just get a cleaner, its so nice not to come home to a pig sty. Wish I'd got one before. Soap scum on all the bathroom sinks etc is just pikey.

Rob you are kidding, cambridge prices are now £9 per hour at least and they are in great demand.

Bog cleaning is an art form. There should not be a tiny speck of dust, even behind the u-bend at the back.

Off-target pee = bad.

Why men can't aim into hole a foot and a half in diameter, I don't know!
