Last time I flew to the US I asked the stewardess if I could borrow a pen. She said she didn’t have one but suggested I ask the steward. He was delighted to lend me a pen, but on the condition that I explained why I didn’t have one. He gave me a book in which people who asked him for a pen had written who they were, where they were flying from and to, the date and why they didn’t have a pen. He claims to have around 900 entries spread over nine books, and that when he gets to 1000 he’ll edit them down and look for a publisher.

Aren't pens now classed as a dangerous weapon on flights in this anti-hijack world. I mean you could take someone's eye out with one.

He needs to get a life.

It doesn't sound a riveting read.

Strange!

I use a Waterman - blue ink - and a Cross fountain pen - Black Ink. I never ever loan them to anyone. I usually pass them a 10p Bic.

Most long haul flights (ive been on) provide a pen in their "overnight bags".

I'd be tempted to hold it between my thumb and forefinger, wave it up and down and exclaim "What's dangerous about this? It's made of rubber - look!"

Or you get cross.

I got one as a leaving present a few years ago, cant find it now. After using bic's for a while bought some Parker Fighter ball pens. they write nice and doesnt matter if you lose one.

Being a steward he probably works on the basis of the penis mightier than the sword but try cutting someone's head off with one

Why not use that pen to write a half interesting book?
