Wondering about the PH massive - do you take many risks day to day?

I'm thinking this because I realise that at school/work, most people won't risk things as they don't want to get into trouble or do something wrong/miss a deadline. But away from work, are you a risk taker?

Another option is driving your car/bike/lorry/whatever - do you (like me ;) ) find yourself taking more risks? Like "Can I get away from these lights and get round that corner before the Mondeo opposite hits me?", or "this road looks quiet, lets have a bit of fun and take these corners PROPERLY!"

Sorry, I'm bored and this seemed interesting in my head :boxedin:

Not in a car - every 'risk' is a carefully calculated manoever. Old pilots, bold pilots etc...

On the road I definitely take less risks than I used to.

I watch some overtakes of other drivers, ones I'd probably have done in the past, and I just cringe. Still, at least I can insure an Evo for 600 notes, as a result.

One good sanity check, whilst re-arranging a narrow country lane, is to ask yourself what would happen if you met yourself coming the other way. If the answer is BANG, probably best to ease off a bit

After Id run out of stink bombs in a nightclub once (oh the shame in admitting it ) I decided to lace someones drinks with laxative powder. But who

I was sat at a table with friends, and over to my left was another table, and a great big hulking giant of a black fellow, Im a tall guy myself but this chap could have flossed his teeth with me. So I dumped the powder in his pint and, thought I was home free when suddenly he turned around and caught me in the act, busted!! Nooooo... certain death! 'Fvck d'ya fink you're doin!?"

me: (applying megacharm) Nothing mate, its just a little speed

He was cool with it thanked me and went back to his pint

Behind the wheel and in business, Im not much a risk taker.

If I saw myself coming down the road I think I'd be a bit confused, if that was me then who am I?

But I know what you mean, I met another biker on a road I use quite often now for cornering as its been deserted every time I've used it. I came round the last corner on the "racing line"...i.e. the wrong side of the road... and there about 40m in front of me is a dirt bike coming towards me. Suffice to say the rider didn't look fazed, he was obviously planning on doing the same thing and we nodded as we passed . I love bikes me

Judging risk is very much like making love to a beautiful woman..... they're both something I wish I knew more about.

Getting out of bed in the mornig is a risk, how many people killed each year putting their pants on? 8 or something?

Deciding not to 'risk' that overtake doesnt mean you're not at any risk as you continue on your journey, just slightly less... (or so it would subjectivley seem). And it doesnt mean you won't get wiped out by an artic while the loony who did simply gets home five minutes earlier. It just tips the scales of statistical probability slightly and in such subtle ways that we as mere humans could never completely fathom.

Even if you don't think you're taking a risk, objectively you are. Inaction is just as much an action as action is... hang on I think 've lost myself again

Risk = Life ?

i climbed onto a roof, 3 storeys high and repaired the flashings and repointed the chimney. no ladder or scaffold, i climbed out of the window and did it. its a dormer window. it was a nice sunny day and the view was great. after i had repointed the chimney i started to walk down the roof towards the window when i slipped on the bits of cement that had fallen on the roof.managed to cling on somehow.
i did it last week. next time i will either get someone in to do the job or hire the scaffold tower . never again.
i like to and have taken risks in business. like a lot of people i get a buzz out of it when it all works out. if it does not i am not answerable to anyone. and yes it has gone wrong in a big way a few times. but i would say i am still up on the whole.
taking risks whilst driving? no i hope not

That reminds me of trip to the Lotus Festival at Donington a few years ago.

The late Graham Arnold spoke a few words, during which said that it was all very well getting it just right in your Lotus round some twisty bends, but qualified this by reminding everyone that the car coming the other way might be a TVR, which was bound to have it all crossed up....

I never really appreciated the truth of his observation until I swapped my Esprit for a Griffith.

Cheers

Pat

Isn't it Richard Branson that doesn't trust himself to drive anywhere anymore. I guess if you've taken enough risks to be able to afford a cheuffeur, then you can think of it like "no claims bonus protection"!

Jas has just reminded me of a childhood incident.... We were on holiday in spain and my dad caught me jumping between the hotel's balconies..... Our rooms were on the seventh floor

In my defence, it was only a two foot gap.... Even so, WTF was I thinking?

To relieve humdrum, I take different risks dependent on mood. I'm currently experiencing a 'high risk' week. Its dodgy but it will pass.
