Tries to shove a paper/flyer/pamphlet in my face on my way to work, I think I shall explode with incandescent rage and beat them with said literature.

I counted 17 people trying to pass on some sort of crap on my 15 minute walk to work this morning (London Bridge to Bishopsgate).

They stand in the way of people in the most crowded thoroughfares, thrust their wares head-height so that the only option open to the 'recipient' are to take the paper/flyer/pamphlet else risk the loss of an eye.

I have had enough, is a (relatively) unimpeded walk into work on a morning too much to ask?

:ranting:

Aaaaand relax...

It's bad, but try walking down any street in a North African country.

You are accosted every three feet by someone trying to sell you something, or entice you into their shop.

Just don't make eye contact and don't break stride.

I do almost the same walk. Have a look around the area where these 'people' are distributing their crap. we would soon see the number of peddlers shrink if they were responsible for picking their flyers up, which incidentley, most people discard without even reading.

Just take the first leaflet offered and give it to the next person, and give their leaflet to the next one etc.

Atleast it might be funny

Absolute scum these parasites!

Three recourses to this problem are when walking rapidly and speeding up when they step in front of you
1) drop a shoulder and charge them into the gutter where they belong (If you catch them properly they're spinning and falling flat into the dogpoo too!)
2) Drop your forehead onto their noses (the Glesga kiss) accidentally of course
3) take to wearing large heavy country shoes, as I do, and kick their ankles hard or step on their trotters when they step in front of you

Result: a very satisfying feeling
And: you won't be bothered by these gremlins again!

NAh, no fun in it!! When pestered by timeshare scrotes in Malta, I threatened to throw the next one over the sea wall...funnily enough it worked, parting of the red sea analogy and all that......

The worst ones are those that just want a chat about their favourite charity. Oh, and for you to sign away a slice of your hard-earned to save lesbian monkeys in Nepal or something...

Reminds me of the Jimmy Carr joke:

"Can you spare a few moments for Cancer Research?"

"Well ok, but I don't think we'll get much done..."

Agreed. Blank them out and keep walking.

New Delhi's just as bad. Every one is either crawling all over you begging for money, or wanting to be your personal escort to the local emporiums.

I'm not interested, just leave me alone!

Walking through Canary Wharf shopping center, at least 10 people try to give you a copy.

If it was given out by nice young ladies in small clothes then maybe I will next time.

Practice grabbing their wrist in the correct way so that their hand spasms and:
1)They drop the flyer
2)You drag them down the street pleading for you to let go.
3)This should stop the others bothering you.

Ah if only

Or stop and read them and then get into a heated discussion about something in said leaflet.

I only ever stop for the Big Issue Seller, as it's a good read.

Me neither. I wont read it on principal
I don’t like things forced on me, crossing London Bridge this morning there must have been at least 7 working in waves, if you get past the first three then the next lot are shoving their paper in your face. Feck off

It's always the same people trying to give you stuff in the morning and afternoon, and it's like they don't remember faces at all. I just keep walking and ignore them - I was in a rush to get on the train once and a bloke offered me dentistry, it was the first time i've actually ever been rude to someone like that

Bank on Monday had models in supergirl costumes, I would be quite happy with them handing out leaflets daily

The other thing is the girls handing the papers out are clothed. It is a well known fact that a pretty girl wearing not a lot will hand out more papers than a fully clothed minger.

Sorry but its a proven fact
