What do suicide bombers have to do with Pakistan? Is this something to do with Kashmir or something?
perhaps he is saying the quake was good because some suicide bombers are now dead.??
Yup.. we'll take a Dubya Bush view of the situation, and look at the bright side.. 19,000 dead, but there may be a few bombers in the rubble somewhere...

Thankfully most of my family is accounted for, but were still looking to find out about some friends. My in-laws' cook, who was like one of the family went back to Mansehra near Muzzafarabad as his wife was about to give birth on Thursday... we can't find out anything about him or his family. Our family is Islamabad hav'nt slept since the quake with 144 after shocks so far, the largest being 6.3 earlier today.
Another terrible natural tragedy with loss of ordinary peoples' lives. Very sad, and watching the news brought tears to my eyes seeing the scale of human suffering.
I couldn't help thinking, however, as I watched interviews with British rescue teams trying to help the victims, whether they were also involved in extracting people from the bomb blasts in London, and whether they had any views on that strange juxtaposition of events?

What Juxtaposition? Are you saying that because it is a muslim country, they are having second thoughts about helping? Come on, and get a grip. 19,000 people died, and the best you can come up with is some silly comment regarding religion... They may well have helped in London, but I don't think all those people in Pakistan had anysay in the matter.

I think you may have misinterpreted?? It doesn't read like that

How does it read? What possible juxtapostion could there be? from a western city, to an asian/middle eastern country?
I can only assume that the fact that the london bombers being pakistani of origin is the explanation...for the general lack of sympathetic comments over this quake,
perhaps Im wrong but it would be understandable.
Does seem that Pakistan's image and role in the war on terror is not fully understood.
these two articles sum their situation pretty fairly but from different perspectives..

Firstly, don't assume I'm an idiot - I have just as firm a grip on events as you think you have.
Secondly, how does religion enter into my comments? It appears you want me to make some kind of religious statement, to justify your fashionably outraged moral stance.Try reading what I actually wrote, rather than your interpretation - and perhaps read the first sentence - I am fully aware that many thousands of people have died, and I feel very sad that it has happened. I made absolutely no reference to the fact that it has happened in a Muslim country - to me, that is utterly irrelevant - they are just people in my mind.
Lastly, try to understand what I am asking - IF some of the rescue workers were also working in the London bombings, being human, would they perhaps have a view, as humans do, on the tragic events wrought by nature, and the equally tragic events wrought my man?
Don't try to tar me with the brush of your own false perceptions - there's no racism nor bigotry in what I've said - it appears that it is no longer possible to comment on issues affecting non-white people without some moralising halfwit playing his best "Ooh, look at the racist" card. Sorry, no racism in this corner of the internet. No moral outrage or self-serving hypocrisy either.
My apologies, but that was how I read the post. There wasn't a great deal else to go by. oh, and nowhere did I assume you were an idiot, or accuse you of being an idiot. There is just a lot of crap written on PH about muslim this, and so on. I thought you were heading off down those lines, as some of the other posts were.
