Yep, know them well. Saw them live at Rock City on their final tour - having only discovered them two months earlier. I think they're a decent group, bit lacking in energy live, but got some classic songs.

If you're looking for new music, check out Supergrass's Road to Rouen - it's a bit of a change from their earlier stuff, but some of the songs are brilliant. Eels' Daisys of the Galaxy is a superb album - if you like that, check out what other stuff they've done, but would recommend Daisy's as the most accessible album. And The Shins are a little along the lines of Snow Patrol. Although better. And not Scottish.

Cheers for that .....was looking at getting some 'Eels' stuff last week......luckily we have a music shop called 'ffop' that knocks out top titles for between 5 & 10 quid a pop......it's just a shame i bought the Beta Band album from HMV (13.99!).....that's what you get for buying on impulse eh?

the track ' Dry the Rain ' is pretty epic

supergrass have always been a fave of mine.....although listening to them always seems better in the hot summer months!

Beta Band are absolute quality. I remember the 'Dr Baker' video with them all blinged-up in a swimming pool. I'm sure the singer does his own thing under the name 'King Biscuit Time'.

Aqualung, Leaves (Breathe more than Angela Test), The Bees, The Coral, Air, Crash Test Dummies, Dandy Warhols, Lodger and Paul Curreri are all worth a look.

Saw the Beta Band live last year, as part of their farewell tour.
That they were never publicly acclaimed in their own time may mean they achieve 'cult' status. Brilliant band, excellent live act who thrived on the 'groove'; building simple riffs into extended jams improvising layers over the top.
Buy all their stuff; even the last hit and miss album contains it's own gems.
(never been a fan of 'Greatest Hits', 'Best ofs' etc., you can sell it on eBay when you have the real deal)

I agree, Beta Band are superb, definately worth a purchase, or nicking off someone else who's forked out for it/downloaded it etc.

Go and buy all their CDs, go directly to music shop, do not pass go, do not collect £200.

They're awesome - especially the stuff on 3EPs
