What is there to do on a Saturday night in York?

All suggestions welcome, it's for a fortieth birthday bash. I favour comedy if there's any going.

The Ghost trail is good for a laugh. Bit of a late night walking tour of York with a few goulish stories thrown in.

No, really, I am thinking of going to York next weekend... And geographically it's in completely the opposite direction to the oxo tower

Get pissed in the Spread Eagle, then visit the kebab shop just outside Walmgate Bar and have a large doner with hummus and chilli sauce and a quarter of a pint of liquid fat waiting to dribble out of the pitta and down your trousers if you hold it at the wrong angle.

Loads and loads.

Micklegate run for the brave (very brave if you attempt a pint in each).

Noooo, I'm thinking of taking the GF there.... She fancies going. Personally I want to go the comedy store in London, but it's not my birthday

Word of warning... I went with g/f couple of years ago and York "shuts" at 11pm.

Even the (city centre) hotel bar was shut when we got back at 11.30pm on a Saturday night!

Dungeons are worth a visit tho'.

How did you know about my bondage fetish

That's worth knowing about it shutting early. Keep em coming or I'll be booking the comedy store

Was open late when I was there a few weeks back.

Wasn't too impressed by the dungeons.

Take her for a little cruise down the river, a wander through the shambles, a walk around the wall, dinner for two at the blue bicycle (excellent fish) and then perhaps the theatre?

You could take her to the train museum. That'll teach her for not going to the comedy store.

I'm going with the missus in December. Perhaps we can meet up and go clubbing. We can leave the women in the hotel after they've been out shopping for kinky underwear. We can sort them out on our return.

Guided tours are a must in york. There's a really good museum, indoors somewhere. You sit on a small train type thing and it takes you round. Theres a voice recording of Magnus Magnusson which comes out of a speaker in your seat and he explains what you're looking at. Its really good it is. Mmm, cool

Oh, yes, this time of year, wrap up warm and do a ghost walk. Most entertaining.

Went there for a rugby tour. I might suggest that sliding down the steep long hill that the fortress is on, on you front, butt naked with 4 broken ribs is not great, york hospital is a bit of a drive but nice as well.

Seriously those we went to the 80's club most nights ( haven't got a scooby what it is called ), but the main thing is it is dirt cheap ( cabs are silly money, thought about bring one back with their family to london they were that cheap ).

DO NOT GO TO SCHOLORS ( I think that is what it is called ) it is basically a homeless shelter with bad decor, same for the patrons.

There are lots of stag/hen nights in York, so if you fancy getting shitted great, if not you might find your girlfriend acosted by drunk men and you swammed by drunk middleaged house wives who have been let off the leash and have got hammered on a pint and a half of snakebite.

Silks.

Millions of great pubs (Lendal Cellars, Bluebell, Hole in the Wall, Malt Shovel)
Walks (river banks, Museum Gardens, walls)
Museums (Jorvick Viking Centre, Dungeons)
Minster
Loads of great restaurants
Loads of great shopping.
Hire a boat and cruise up & down the river

TBH I would avoid Micklegate if you are with the good lady...

There is an arts centre now as well I believe.

Haven't been there for 9 years so some stuff may have changed!
