Sorry, the last thing we need is the forums full of people trying to sign up for schemes like this

All you do click the link, select a free offer (get a free one) and refer five friends. My friends have all got their ipods so I want one now!

It really does work and it is legit.

Hmmm... I've seen this (or something similar) before, and being firmly of the 'there's no such thing as a free lunch' school of thought, I remain dubious.

What's in it for the company running this promotion? And how exactly does it work - do the five mates you refer have to sign up and suggest five other mates before you get your 'free' iPod?

Anyone done this at all?

They all have to sign up for something such as Credit card, insurance.

Its all gen but you got to get 5 people to order credit cards or the like which is just a faff and not worth the £130 you migh get foc.

They fund it through commission

Looks like a way of getting email addresses to generate more spam.

And they need your address to send the ipod to, so you'll get junk mail too.

No thanks. I'd rather just buy one.

Aren't pyramid schemes illegal?

I assume they sucker you into giving up your details for advertising purposes, and they can then build up a large list of addresses and phone numbers they can send marketing crap to, for which they are paid a lot of money (or else just plain sell an address list, done all the time). The iPods are just a trickey way on making sure you give the right address and don't put down a fake one like most jokers.
