Genuine asylum seekers should be helped, but if they are then I thought they are supposed to go to the nearest 'friendly country'?

The situation in Iraq and Zimbabwe are not exactly the same.

Mugabe has not invaded his neighbours, and he has killed a few thousand of his own people, not hundreds of thousands like Saddam.

Moreover Zimbabwe is supported by South Africa which has substantial world influence.
