Try the 'White Lines', the 'Ganja' and 'E'.. not names of clubs, just the Mancunian staple diet...

You can't go to far wrong with Canal Street. Barbarbarbar and, oh look..a bar. As long as you steer clear of the heavy dykes then the welcome is warm and the atmosphere cheery.

Whitworth Street West is a good place to start, right next to 2 train stations (Train and Metrolink). Loads of really classy bars. (runs by the canal and metro station)

Castle Street and the area around the canal has some really nice bars.

Canal street is also very good, but be warned its the gay area of the city (if you're not into that kind of thing). Its always massively busy, and a really good atmosphere.

I vote for 'anal 'treet it's a great part of town, never seen any agro down there and it's a party atmosphere. Churchill and Bar Eden are good! PS I'm straight before you start.

Deansgate locks is part of canal street but is home to hip n trendy bars under railway arches. I dont know about footballers being there. They are usually to be seen in Wilmslow and Alderley Edge.

You could try Tribeca just behind Canal street, always a good place to start. Good mixture of people in there.
Then head up to The Late Room, or the bar in the Radisson Edwardian, which is nice.
Deansgate Locks is ok, but depends on what you are looking for. Also try the heading to the Northern Quarter, Blu Bar, Tiger Tiger and The Filwmorks.

Deansgate locks is nowhere near canal street. Its over a mile away. The locks is better for totty. Actually Tom you would probably do better at the bar in Harvey nicks mate

Also, if you fancy some hot and sweaty funk. Try out The Attic opposite the Palace hotel, I've not been there in a few years but have fond memories of it.
or 5th Avenue for the indie disco chocked full of students and we managed to sneak in on a student night (Wednesday) and paid 90p for a bottle of Fosters!!

ps: Might need to pick your brains about your 205 one day soon, looking at getting one for the track!!

Ah sorry I was saying 2 things at once there.

1 Deansgate locks is nowhere near canal street this means you were pissed last time you went to manchester if you think it is.

2 The other bit about Tom was a reference to minimax suggesting that as he is most successful with ladies d'un certain age he may well be better taking his grunge look to the bar at Harvey nicks and messing up his hair so they all want to mother him. lol I can see how you might have read it differently though. lol
