Bought it in the 'Virgin' sale yesterday. DVD for £2.99.

It has two discs, one is the directors cut.

Do I watch this first or not? I assume the directors cut is the nothing held back version. Is this right?

Read this and make your own mind up - it's a complicated tale of deceit and duplicity.

Yes, but Britt can't act for toffee and her accent is apalling and she was a right pain in the arse during the making of it apparently.

There's a site somewhere (ggogle search wicker man) which tells you where it was filmed and the remains of the wicker man's feet are still there ... well, the concrete base really.

me and the wife went to see Britt the other week in "Just Desserts" at the local theatre and it was very good, although she was awful and at least 20 years older than the publicity shot on the programme ... (aren't they all though?)

Burrow Head, Dumfries and Galloway - about half a mile from the cave where Howie attempts to 'rescue' Rowan Morrison - the cave is about 3 feet deep, bit of a disappointment really - nice beach though.

According to the 100 Greatest Sexy Film Moments on Channel 4 last night Britt Eckland voice was dubbed and although she gets the puppies out, the shots of her naked from behind were done with a body double without her knowing as she refused to do the fully naked shots!

I've got this DVD too. I watched the "released" version, then watched the documentary where everyone slated the released version, complaining at how it had been completely butchered. On that basis, it looks like the Director's Cut might be the one to go for, although I did enjoy the version I watched (especially Britt [or her body double] cavorting naked ).

Edited as it appears it might not have been Britt cavorting naked after all!

Wow.

I might just have to seek out a Virgin.

It is a bit difficult when you work in Wigan as there isn't a Virgin locally.

Cheers

One Lorraine Peters, it would appear, was the body double, confirmed by a member of the crew, one other person claims the role of body double, but i offer this quote
member of crew said:
... Jane Jackson, who has it on record that she was filmed by a man in a sheepskin coat as the body double, I would venture to guess that her footage now resides safely in someone's private collection!

lol fame at last

i'd say watch the directors cut - the opening sequence helps explain the backstory far more than the origonal release did.

you do have to forgive the quality or the added in - as it hasnt been remastered, but tis worth it.

and she was most upset at this - as she thought the double's arse was too big...

Quality film!
I have it on good authority that, although set on a Scottish island, much of the actual behaviour (naked outdoor frolics around standing stones, weird Celticness, frog as cure for a sore throat, are typically Cornish!

Er...she was dubbed.

Great film, I remember watching this first when I was about 12, very disturbing.

First saw this on it's initial release.

One of my favourite films of all time...

I especially love the music during the maypole scene.

The Directors cut is a must see though....
