Friend of mine has had his book published. Links below.

I think he's a traitor to the male gender. Despite being a top chap. Traitor. And don't think that all men, when ill, live on "Lemsip, Fern Britten & Mum on speed dial" (from the diary section of his site). For some of us it's whisky toddies, 24/The West Wing/pOrn and your best mate on the phone. Gareth has lost it.

And, as far as his search for the ideal woman goes, he's definitely let his standards slip :(

It's all a bit worrying - this man used to be a bit of a player. Now he appears riddled with doubt and angst about women. A cautionary tale for all of us single chaps.

I mean - reading Heat magazine?! For f.uck's sake...

have him run out of town chum, hes making the rest of us looking bad, most especially since he's setting standards for his reader that we cant be bothered to achieve. and all his readers will be women.

seriously, I'm as ugly as a bag of spanners, but if i had to write a book to get myself thrown a sympathy , I'm pretty sure id take that as a sign that it was time to become a monk. or better yet, an IT support technician.

sic 'im Flash.

Couldn't agree more nervy - especially the bit about you being ugly an' all.

I'm not angry with Gareth - I'm just disappointed.

The book does look like a big sympathy exercise. Then again it's working, because dozens of these idiot women appear to be e-mailing, and doubtless he will get laid at an unbelievable rate.

'Searching for an intelligent woman'. By writing that book?

My arse.

It's not funny - it's cringeworthy. I mean 'mum on speed dial'? Please.

Ladies - please. Stop flirting; you're not my type.

What Wedge girl says about this sort of literary candyfloss being sufficient to get women into bed. Makes me want to weep. Whether with relief or despair is as yet unclear.

tragically, for us real men it would appear that the definition of 'what women want' has been re-written. in short, they want us to be idiots. just like them

Some of his stuff is pure gold, this would have even the tightest chastity belt dropping to the floor.

"I would have ruled out the over 60's in my quest to find my Ms Jones, but Ellen made me think of Honour Blackman and she was always my favourite Bond Girl, so I buckled and asked her if she fancied a drink in the Villar. She did. And by the time we were propping up the bar all images of her having a hip flask and a hip replacement had vanished. She was chatty and bright and told me all about the joys of being a single woman living on the profits of a successful divorce. Only now and then did I catch a mad glint in her eye when she mentioned her former husband. I've never heard a senior citizen use the C-word before, but it truly was a liberating experience!"

He'll be too busy to notice.

I saw him in the Sunday times prattling on about this crap and thought, ttish loser, but also saw straight through his pathetic plan, of course women wont, because they are about as clever when it comes to soppy crap like this as men are when it thinking with the lower brain. Your friend is a genius, therefore you must do your duty and kill him so the rest of us don't have to stoop to such a level in future.

He does it again here...

"Poor Fern Britten, getting a beating in the press. She’s a bit curvy, wears a swimming cossie on a beach hols (what else is she supposed to wear) and everyone gives her a hard time. I think Fern’s great - a dirty laugh and appreciates her food, heck she’s even married to a chef. Would you sooner be on a date with Fern or Victoria Beckham. Fern would be reaching for your knee under the table, a mischievous glint in her eye; whilst Posh would be wondering who’s looking at her (on her evening away from the Castle of Greyskull) and pushing a solitary organic pea around her plate."
