Visiting Singapore (tomorrow) - what to do?
Discussion
OK, bit of a last minute request, but we're off to Singapore tomorrow for a couple of days before moving onto Oz.
Any suggestions on what to do? Only 1 full day, but 2 evenings. Not interested in museums or art, but like interesting building, scenery and enjoying a quiet beer.
If I don't come up with anything, I guess we'll be shopping!

Slings in Raffles
Shopping in Orchard Road Malls (esp.lucky plaza) Good food courts under each mall,
(Stitchwell Tailors et al will knock you up a suit or two in a couple of days)
Down to earth curry in Little India (bit like Chinatown) Also Mustapha's dept store, you name it-you can buy it!
Night tour round the zoo
Orchard hotel (I think) aka 4 Floors of Whores....
Harbour tour from Clarke quay
The list is endless

Night zoo is good, even if when looking into the hippo enclosure my wife said there it is pointing at the lake, "Look you can see the ears" whereupon the ears stopped bobbing in the water and flew away, as they were ducks!
Singapore Slings are good, we did a tour which took in Raffles and a dinner at a restaurant where you cooked a steak on a piece of lava rock at the table.

Bars on Emerald Hill (On Orchard Road)
Nightclubs on Mohammed Sultan Road
Crazy Elephant (Blues Bar) Clarke Quay
Harry's Bar & Molly Malones Boat Quay
Restaurants Chijmes (nr Raffles Place) offers a good choice in the grounds of an old convent
Walk beside the River from the Fullerton Hotel towards Boat Quay very pleasant, couple of good museums & colonial buildings to explore
Enjoy

Zoo
Night Safari
Hawker Centre food but not the tourist place at Newton Circus, go to one of the real local places with no air con and no ang moh tourists
Sentosa Beach maybe
The Treetop walk in the rainforest near the golf course is also good stuff - very different to the usual haunts!

Just for the hell of it, have a ride on the metro over there, stations and trains are just light years ahead of London, built by a Japanese company I believe.
If its your first visit, you'l note the city is almost surgically clean.
And enjoy a nice pint of cold Tiger beer.
Have fun.
Yep I loved the MRT, so clinical and light years ahead of the underground in London. I was also the only white person to be seen on the way home to the suburbs, that was a surreal experience!

When I first went down to the station, I thought "Bloody ell, where's the lines", smashing system, even forgot to hand in my ticket for the refund/
