I realise that in the larger scheme of things this is fairly trivial. But I feel I have to speak out against all those nimrods out there that come up to you when you're sitting at your desk, eating your lunch and reading the paper. Yes, you. You chicken-footed simpleton who approaches me (pretending not to notice the food and newspaper) and starts a) a conversation with you, or b) asking you to do something.

You put down your fork and finish chewing the mouthful of food. You lean back in your chair and look up. Only then does the pond life acknowledge that you're at lunch. They pause, bated breath, and then the obvious question falls from their flaccid lips like faeces from a duck's behind, "Oh, are you at lunch?"

You toy with the appealing vision of your lunchtime assailant lying on the floor with a fork inserted in his bell end and torn newspaper clogging his nostrils and mouth as he suffocates and dies. Before you can reply, however, Mr Nimrod waits for you to say, "It doesn't matter, what can I do for you?" but you don't, so he ploughs on regardless with his stream of consciousness turd wallow.

Meanwhile, your lunch is softly calling you, "Eat me! Eat me! I'm lonely!" but you can't start again until Mr Duck Arse has gone.....

And.....BREATHE!

I'm going to forward a link of this thread to Mr Trackside, because I think he'll appreciate your sentiments.

Me, I go out to lunch to avoid the moronic monkeys that do this, without fail, if I do stay in the building.

If you don't want to be bothered leave your office, and certainly leave your desk...

There is no such thing as 'lunch' in an office these days - just sandwiches eaten in / between meetings....

It depends on the office.

I have my lunch at my desk and I am only disturbed by an occasional phone call.

Keep eating while they talk to you. Reply with your mouth full and if you can, spray them with crumbs/little blobs half chewed food.

Its really rude but it serves them right for interrupting

Nice to see there's something that stresses you out more than me on a bad day.

The very reason I have my ipod nano with me at work. I just turn it up real loud so I cant hear them.

Best insult though is to just get up and go and get a cup of tea to go with my sarnie.......

Good thanks. It's the first day of my new job and I have SO MUCH WORK! Hence the mini rant about being interrupted. I'm not really that peed off about it, it was just an observation.

How's you?

Oh dear God, you wouldn't say that if you'd seen the nearest pub to my office.

Why did you stop eating again?.... Just carry on and ignore them. If they get louder pick something out of your teeth and flick it at them.
