Mine does, and it's been doing it more and more recently

After sitting in a huddled position for a long time, or typing/driving/writing whilst sitting down, when I stand up and stretch my arms above my head, my sternum feels extremely tight before clunking back into position, often with painful results.

Am I the only one this happens to?

Yeah, I used to get this a lot after I got punched very hard several times on the sternum during a particularly hard training session. Over time the frequency of cracking has reduced a lot (maybe once every few months) but it used to be a regular occurance when I was a bit younger.

Yeah I get it too, but its not painful. But then I was getting some killer punches duringes training. Seems to have died down a little.

Oh

I asked my GP about it: It's because your ribs connect to your sternum with cartiledge (sp?) This connection can become weak, and crack.

The answer is to stop 'cracking' it by stretching your arms back.

I didn't let it stop me training I should add, that's probably why it continued for such a long time. What's more, a recent chest X-ray didn't show any obvious signs of damage so I think everything was fine.

Happens to me all the time. In fact I do it on purpose to upset people. Its just like flexing your fingers to make them crack, and I find it pretty relaxing too. Comes from being hunched over at a desk all day.

Yes. Mine does too. It happens periodically. I put it down to doing a lot of upper body weight training.
