Has anyone had any experience with this?
Lately after using a mouse I have been having a lot of pain in the underside of my right wist and up my arm. Also my 3rd and 4 fingers feel numb for a while.
I need to use a mouse for my job (graphics) but don't want to permenantly injure myself.

I used to get something similar until I started using my mouse left handed (stop sniggering at the back). If I'm doing something that requires any skill I use my right hand but for just surfing and stuff I use my left some of the time. Takes a few hours to get used to but after that jobs a good un.
i found the same thing,
got my work desk edges covered in bar beer towels, 2 rolled up to form a wrist support for the mouse, and one infront of the keyboard to soften up the desk.
got to be quality towels tho - Thwaites Bitter in front of keyboard and a Guiness + Samual Smith rolled for the mouse

Nope unlikely to be RSI, more likely to be an ulna nerve entrapment syndrome.
How about checking you have your elbow resting on something softer than your desk perhaps?
I don't rest my elbow on anything. It sort of floats, but I do rest my forearm on the desk.
I'm a 3D artist so everything has to be precise, so no chance of using the mouse left handed as all my keyboard shortcuts are set up for me being right handed.
i've started to get the first signs of rsi a few years ago and the only way to really deal with it is to rest. the first sign of it was in my right hand, so i typed with my left hand for 3 weeks.
it tried to reappear again recently so i ended up limiting my exposure to my computer for a couple of weeks and a well timed long weekend in between also.

How do you rest your forearm on a desk and have your elbow floating. Do your arms look like bananas?

I am banana man!!
No The I have my wrist and front part of my forearm on the desk and the rear of my forearm and my elbow over the edge of the desk.

Had it before and occassionally get it now - but only slightly. I notice the change in posture and position of my body / arms / hands and then do my utmost to resolve it early - plus I will try to not use a computer as much for a while.
Tried all sorts of things. Only one thing works for me though - rest. Rather than those extra long emails, drop them down in size - use a phone instead. Try and work normal hours and dont push yourself too hard. Things will revert back to normal if you get it early. If it gets bad then its really painful and can affect work, if you use a keyboard / mouse a lot. Best to catch it early.

Normal hours for me are pretty abnormal. I tend to use the mouse for around 12 hours + a day. Possibly I may try and get a nicer mouse as the one at work isn't very good.
Had RSI a few months back. Not fun. Try getting a trackball and using it left-handed for a while. Also, stop working as soon as it starts hurting/tingling etc a take a break, and do the same when it's better too to stop it coming back. [fingerscrossed]Worked for me so far[/fingerscrossed]
