Hey Guys,

Can anyone tell me what the process is for transferring a private number plate that has never been assigned to a car before ?

The Plate is currently on a V750 form (I think thats the correct number!) that we are seeking to buy .

Has anyone purchased a plate privately before under these circumstances and how long did it take before you could assign to your car.

Thanks for any help on this subject.

you pay for the plate send off a form to dvla.then go to the dvla local office with old v5 and new one and they transfer it over. there and then.
then off you go to halfrods to get your new plate made.
your car stays registered with both plates do if you decide to sell then car reverts to its orginal..
I hope I remembered how it was. I do remember it was easy though...

The reg number needs to have the same name as nominee or grantee as the vehicle's V5 to which it is to be registered.

(I.e. be careful if it's going on to a lease car)
