I know there are a lot of people out there who rant at the police, but I'm not one of them. I know there are a lot of hard working people out there, spoiled by a few, and a system that I personally think doesn't work.

However, I was just having a gander out of my window. What did I see? Two mounted police men on horses, all shiny and flourescant. And there they were stood, when along came a man and vomited not five feet from them. Quite a lot as well. And they just sat there. Maybe, I thought, they'd talk to him when he was finished. But no, when he was done they had a cheery talk with him and waved him off, as if he had done nothing wrong!

I thought vomiting in the street carried a 80 pound fine? Or was I just imagining that one. Its a main street as well (West street if anyone knows Sheffield)

I imagine that in Sheffield, it being a student city, vomiting in the street is a common occurence. I suppose that they thought it did not warrant the time and effort spent filing a report.

The last time I vomited in the street was when
I found out quite how allergic to chicken liver
you can be....smart place in Barnes, sister's
birthday bash...after the (chicken liver) starter
had to leave in a hurry (sober) - didn't make
it on foot back to my flat without a major chunder.

All is not as it may seem.

West street is paved with sick. That was just a council workman filling a spot that had recently been removed.

I've been out on a few nights with the police. What do you expect them to do? There are more important things to deal with than people throwing up.

Usually (in my limited experience) only very severe provocation will land a person in trouble, most of the rest of the time they just move people along and try to get them to go home.

And making an arrest, taking him into custody and then doing the paperwork for what is probably a public order offence albeit disgusting. Should have let the horse kick him instead and then deny it. Drunks, you have to loath them sometimes.

Its a sight i see quite a lot unfortunately but ide rather they do it in the street than in my cab.

What i dont understand is why dont they do it over a drain or behind a bush? ,the last thing you want to see is 'pavement pizza',me and a few others normally grab a bucket of water to sluish it away on the rank when its quiet, yuck!

I expect the police would rather they did it in the street than their cells.
