the guy next door to me is the UK distributor.

His company is called Reiver. He is also the UK distributor for Napapijri and La Martina.

He has shown me a couple which look really good.

Apparently they sell the models that cosmonaughts and russian fighter pilots wear.

top gear.

cool any contact details? web site?

currently talking to a guy in Russia via E-mail waiting for a reply.
If nothing comes of that I will probably want to get in touch. it might be safer to buy from a UK source anyway but perhaps not as cheap

I was going to start a seperate thread, but since this one is going I might as well put my questions here. I'm looking for a new watch and came across the following companies:

www.christopherward.co.uk

www.wernersflyingwatches.com

Has anyone come across these watches before? The first one is particularly interesting because the ETA movement they claim to use is quite a good one.

I've got one of these.....
===================================================

Russian aviator A.I.Pokryshkin

All Stainless steel case, 45 mm diameter and 13 mm thickness, 10 ATM water resistance. Mineral flat glass. Screw-in crowns, 7 mm diameter. The figures on the dial and the hands are made using SuperLuminowa (Switzerland) powder.
The additional XX century scale is put on the dial (from 1900 till 2000), on which are marked in silver colour marks the years of Pokryshkin’s life.

The contours of the P-39D “Airacobra” fighter are displayed at the center of the dial. The glorified Soviet ace gained the greatest number of his air victories on this airplane.
The double stainless steel back cover. Due to the outer screw-in back cover with the etched pattern the case has 10 ATM water resistance. The additional inner resonating cover amplifies the alarm signal.

Model 2612/1223739-45
Mechanical watch with 2612 POLJOT movement (Caliber 26 mm, Height 5.8 mm).
18 Ruby jewels. Manual winding-up.
Sweep-type second hand.
Functions: hours, minutes, seconds, alarm.
Case: stainless steel matt.
Size is 45 mm x h 13 mm.
Shock resistant balance.
Water resistant 10 ATM.
Mineral flat glass.
Screw-in crowns, 7 mm diameter.
Dial: Black. Figures on the dial and hands made using SuperLuminowa (Switzerland) powder. Luminous hands and indicies for night visibility.
Band: Brand new original black leather band with logo on the buckle.
Balance oscillation period - 0,4 sec.
Mean daily rate from - 20 to + 40 s/day.
The watch runs at least 42 hours after full winding.

Sound alarm with own actuator.
Alarm sound duration of at least 10 s.
Alarm starts actually within 6 min of the alarm preset time.
===================================================
Very Very impressive watch both in quality and look. The Stainless steel case is so smooth to the touch it really gives an impression of quality. When I choose to wear it (I have a few watches ) it always gets comments.

My only warning would be to make sure you get a Russian marked version. I have seen Poljot watches with the faces and backs printed in English language (for the western market?) and the quality has always seemed much lower than mine.

A good one to look our for in the POLJOT SHTURMANSKIE

Available on ebay from the sale seller I bought mine from. (Pretty good delivery time and very well packaged)

Heres the ebay link to the watch above.....

Go for it, you wont be disapointed

I’ve been laughing at my stupidity for a couple of minutes now. I’ll have a 1 minute think before I post in the future.

My cheeks are still burning.

I normally dont bother with watches, but I think I will have to make an exception, how much does one of those bad boys go for?
