stayed in the hotel du louvre, very nice position as just outside the louvre, cheated on the access as straight in an eurotunnel and then metro but made a nice way of seeing paris and then good access for rest of weekend to go up to arc de triomphe etc etc

Thanks for the info guys, georges V looks nice but a bit on the pricey side (800 euro/night). Any slightly cheaper options? (Being a poorly paid engineer!)

Only trouble is that if you want the penthouse, I don't think the lift goes to the top floor...

It's ok but you don't get much sleep.

Have a look on the Sawdays site www.sawdays.co.uk/maps/paris/index.html

They are reputed to have decent hotels to cover most budgets

I can recommend the Suite Hotel beside the Stade de France. Myself and the wife use it when we go to the Race of Champions (December). It's about 80 Euros a night for a very big room. It's not central though, about 20 Euros by Taxi will get you to the Centre of Paris. I think it's www.suitehotel.fr

Try looking on US websites - in the past I found them much more competitive then ripoff British ones

Hotel Vernet (www.slh.com) nice, small, discreet and central hotel with a 2* michelin restaurant should you so desire..

Had to be done didn't it?

I hear it's quite easy to get inside the Paris Hilton.
