I have been looking at projectors to use at home. I was going to use it instead of a wall mounted TV.

Am I barking up the wrong tree here wanting to use it instead of a normal TV?

I have seen some decent ones on the DABS website and was just about to press the buy it option but I think I need to know the full ins and outs.

Depends on the picture size ur after!!! If you're looking at typical large telly size (42" for example) ur better off with a screen I would say (quality, price etc) ..projectors are really for a proper home cinema (5ft screen and up)

IMHO

Incorrigible

Brilliant for movies, and I don't have a TV tuner so I can't really answer your specific question. The lack of a big grey box when it's not on is very nice though

As for suppliers give Derestrictor a call

Have wondered about this option myself! I'll be interested to see the responses!

PS - are you talking about having the projector permanently mounted somewhere?

What set-up is that? Because that is sort of size I want to go for.

Do you have a TV input into that too?

Its a Seleco CRT projector and 8ft wide screen..

I have my sky plugged in but to be honest it does'nt look very good blown up to that size.. I suspect you will be looking at an LCD as opposed to an CRT.

I really only use it for films and watch tv on my normal tv.

GT4 is fun on it though..

I've got an ok ish DLP jobbie and a 6 foot wide motorised screen that comes down in front of a window.

TV is ok as long as the source is good enough, sure it's not a patch on DVD and the projector will show that up more, but it's watchable, the lack of a TV box is quite handy, do remember though you have to put the projector somewhere and somtimes celling mounts etc look horrible - not everyone has nice bespoke looking cabinets like Vixpy!

U have a bit of a budget system.

BenQ5120 DLP PJ
Sony 5.1
Sony Progressive Scan DVD
I use the Video as the TV Tuner box, so you can watch telly on the projector, all being shown directly onto the wall, painted matt white, although I am told Delux IceStorm 5 is the best shade.

I would give it 10/10 for the price, go fo it.

Eveyone that see's it loves it.

For the Audio I have a Denon Amp 6.1 THX , Rotel Power amp, Kef Speakers, an extra set of B&W's for the extra rear set, M&K sub and monitor audio centre..

The projector is almost 5 years old now but i still love it, will stick to CRT when i upgrade.. Possibly a Barco.

Sorry, but Sim2's are ok if your on a budget

What you need is a Vidikron Vision 1 there are no other substitutes, and sorry, anything other than a CRT just doesn't cut the mustard

Sorry Vixpy, couldn't resist
