Hang on, you had a watch thread the other day you greedy swine!

How about a used watch? I can't remember the sites where you can buy them, but you might find something a bit different.

Oh yes, they're lovely. I have a bit of an urge to buy a new watch at the mo but everything I want is too expensive for what will be another trinket lying around for months at a time.

Been looking at IWC recently. Superb blokes watches, great history and cracking movements. Still can't decide between the black on black: spitfire crono / pilot crono / portuguese crono (black & white).

Bing I have an Omega seamaster and its quality.

You may find it hard to get oe for £600 notes though.
There are two types Auto and Quartz with the Quartz being the cheaper, second hand ones can get that low but buy from a reputable dealer. New they're about £1100 for an Auto version.
What about a Brietling again second hand or a top of the range Seiko, some very nice titanium Seiko Auto Chronographs knocking around for £200-£300.

If your really interested why not get a cheap flight over to the US where Watches are still pretty cheap. A good friend of mine his misses brought him a TAG carrera over in the US just three weeks ago brand new, it costs £1495 here but it cost £800 in the states. The speedmaster is ver nice and there are lots of variations of the speedmaster available now. Again check out Ebay you should one for arounf £700-£800 if your lucky.

I've just been having a gander on ebay and found this rather nice seamaster.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GENUINE-Large-V

Seems like a good price for a nice watch but I have some reservations about buying watches without documents from ebay. Can anyone tell if this is definitely a genuine watch, and if so, what's this watch really worth.

(Sorry for potential thread hijack but didn't want to start ANOTHER watch thread)

Only real way of Knowing is to check the movement is as decribed but obviously you can't do this at the moment as its not in your posession. I think if you pay by escrow service you get a chance to check the details and goods before allowing payment they act as a third hand if you like, that way if its not original you can defer payment and retunr the goods, (i'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong). 1958 is quite old, so I can't comment on the price but I would expect it to get to around 400-500 quid. You can still buy this style of seamaster its called an Aqua terra chronometer comes in a variety of styles, but very similar. Again depending on spec about £1100 new from a dealer.
