Where the hell do these @rseholes get off...
My house sale was due to complete today, dates had been agreed and set so I sit happily waiting for the call to tell me all is done and my money is safely back in MY hands!
But oh no.
f
up No.1 - The lazy scroats have taken the day off and not handed the case to anyone to deal.
f
up No.2 - They declined to call their client (Me), Im obviously not important in this transaction.
f
up No.3 - I phone up at approx 16:15 to check on progress to be told that the sols dealing with my case (2 of them have dealt) were not in the office today - AND its the other peoples solicitor whos stalling and it'll definately happen Monday...
f
up No.4 - My ex partner has been phoned and told categoricly that the other peoples solicitor have been trying to reach our sol all day but their calls have not been returned...
I am seething. Its peoples lives these arrogant @rses are messing with here. I have spent time and money making sure the house was clear by the agreed date and yet again I am let down. I HATE the house buying/selling process in this country, it is open to low life leeches and f
wits like these to abuse their positions of 'necessity'.
Apologies - needed to vent....

They are an independent as far as I know. (Ex selected them).
The problem is that ive been well and truly messed about on this house sale since May!!! Initially it was some wideboy estate agent going to buy it and do it up etc etc - turns out he didnt have the money and hadnt marketed the property for us (so he could have it cheap for himself), and he was waiting for another dodgy transaction to go through before having the reddies for my house. I will be taking this to the ombudsman once the sale is sorted and I have some time to stop and breath.
Now we find that the sols cant even be bothered to perform (as you say) the simple passing of monies to complete the transaction. My next purchase depends upon this going through, thats assuming the buyers dont sod off as we have gone past the agreed date...!?
Im sure most conveyancers are far more caring of their clients feelings during this stressful process, but incompetents like these serve to give a bad name!

My sympathies.
I can't defend what appears from your post to be the indefensible. I always ensure that there are notes on any matter or have discussed it with another in my office if i am away on a completion day. At the very least my more than excellent secretary is up to speed.
One thing i always say is that I’ll call the client as soon as i have anything of substance to report. When it goes wrong I always try to let the client know as soon as possible what the problem is and how I’m going to try to solve it.
As for fees tbh my job is reasonably straight forward when it goes well. What you are paying me for, and what I spend 75% of my time doing, is correcting other people's f*** ups and knowing what to do when it hits the fan.
I only had the 5 completions today but it still took at least 2 hours to sort out others problems to ensure my clients matters went smoothly and I had everyone in by 3.
Off home now. Always try for an early night on Mondays and Fridays...
and why does it seem that completions are always set for Fridays, and always JUST AFTER LUNCH...
Im afraid I am party to the raw end of this whilst doing removals for people too...
Sorry mate, I appreciate that Ive just been unlucky with my selection here, I should have come to you obviously. If they'd have kept me updated I would be perfectly calm.....well calmer anyway
