Execellent the season has started, I don't have to slam my brakes on to avoid them now as they try to cross the road.

James here:

Shot yesterday 197 for 8 guns, brilliant weather and some fantastically high birds on the third drive. This got three brace in the garage I need to deal with.

The weather was almost too hot though. Oh and my gun broke...

Great day all in all

What’s this 116 from 8 guns and 197 from 8 guns malarkey? Is that the number of birds you shot?

Shouldn’t be too long before the anti hunting crowd lock on to this and it kicks off

This is sooo depressing reading this thread. Used to go every year (albeit 10 year ago) with my Dad and every weekend for foxes, rabbits pigeon etc. Due to age and a ruptured stomach and also an Aortic Aneurism operation he has been unable to shoot since then. He offered me the chance to have one of his guns (obviously subject to licence confirm etc) but the g/f can't stand them and has said she'd divorce me if I ever put the barrel of a gun near a cute bunny rabbit or pheasant. Plus the fact she'd never allow me to prepare them for cooking. Shame really as I used to love it.
Not even allowed a gun for clays which was my other great love.
Very jealous of all you guys now.

How can she divorce you if she's only a g/f..

If a g/f on mine even considered telling me what i could and could'nt do she would be dumped quicker than Jade Goody from a beauty contest!

Agree - somebody please get rid of as many as possible - i hit one the other weekend - still waiting for MB to let me know how much that's going to cost, the part's only £3 (clouted a parking sensor, no damage to bumper) - probably about 24 hours labour though knowing my luck.

Zippee - your bird is obviously suffering from an extreme case of Hoplophobia...send her to have therapy...and while she's there, buy a gun and waste some local wildlife.

Ah shooting it's what winter is for.
No shooting for me on Saturday, we had our first shoot the week before. The dog is eagerly awaiting the next shoot, little does he know we have 4 days in the next week, then we will see if he really is fit for the season!

Fortunately we have had a bit of rough weather and the leaves are off the trees, our first shoot was a real challenge of snap shooting as with the trees holding so much leaf the stands appeared completely different.

Had one rise of Woodcock on the first shoot, I am still trying to live down the fact that i missed it......both barrels.

Hope the rest of you have a good season, don't worry about the size of the bag this time of year, the birds are still young........the best is yet to come :-)
