I was impressed by Charles, at least compared to other Royals. They showed the "model town" built on his land...Poundbury?
People balked at his organic food venture which is known as "Duchy Originals" and makes 40,000,000 Pounds / year for his charities.
He made a true statement about progress, which some say he inhibits:"Technology should be our slaves, not our masters".
Overall a pretty good fellow seeing as it would be easy to simply be a layabout.

He's a sound bloke and would no doubt run the country better than the bunch of slimy liars called Labour.

It's just that a lot of people seem to have a problem with inherited wealth, which is a pity and also stupid.

However he did lose a mark when he mentioned global warming last week

He seems to be a good businessman.

Sadly the Tabloids have it in for him in this country due to his dastardly treatment of Saint Diana

Sounds like the spin doctors managed the content of the program well and struck the right chord for the US market.

Still, he is a bit of a Petrolhead so I suppose it is reasonable foregive and ignore some of more emotionally inspired outbursts.

I rather liked his stand during the 'beef on the bone' controversy. Good publicity to expose government stupidity - even if the 'bone' was a fake. (He may not have known that.)

He did mention creating more "pedestrian friendly" communities, but not in an anti-car way, at least I didn't take it as such.

There is nothing wrong with mentioning it, even though many of us disagree with many aspects of it. Whay don't I see anyone talking to China or India about such things? They use huge amounts of resources and are FAR LESS evironmentally friendly about it than we are.

That model town was supposed to show that you can have a modern building development and keep the atomshere of a old village. In the process he destroyed an old village and built it right next to Dorchester ( mordern shit hole, and nothing to do wit the rest of Dorset ).

Go up Maiden csatle and look down on it and it looks like a spanish building site and doesn't blend in at all. Also massive protests from local people about it.

Half of it is empty, the other half is owned by townies who use it as a holiday home. The place is a ghost town unless they "make" atomphere there. It is all fake and feels it too. There do have a nice pub there thats serves cracking food, can't remember whats its called though.

Apart from that hes done a great job.

Well, apart from the fact that the obvious place to put a substantial housing development is near to a large town - we did some aerial shots for the Duchy of Cornwall. I've photographed a lot of modern housing developments and it looks far better than any other modern development I've seen, it even has "character". I can't comment on what the locals think but it looked good to me.

Near ? its next to the biggest shopping areas in Dorset, how that adds "character" to a old school friendly village I do not know. It looks good in the photos but walk around it, its crap, like something out of Disney.

Looks better than most fair dos, he has used local materials and companies, but the houses are so expensive that locals can't afford them, you have a "village" in dorset that normal people there cannot even hope to live in.

By the way I don't live anywhere near poundbury ( Egham, surrey ) but go to dorset alot and I would say as a outsider it is not a good thing, maybe not all bad but a big pointless show off by the prince. Knowing lots of locals, they hate it and what it represents.

The pub in Poundbury is the 'Poet Laureate' I believe. The other strange thing about the place, is that due to the 'pedestrian friendly' design all the car parking spaces are hidden away round the back of the houses, so the place feels like a ghost town as the streets are all empty.

It would have been a better idea to sell off plots of land to individual self-builders and then you really would have got some unique properties rather than a twee faux-village.

Good point. I believe that as hybrid cars are built that do not compromise performance(and don't cost a fortune), people will flock to them. I do know that GM is going full on toward hydrogen research and bypassing the hybrid bandwagon for the most part.

Personally, I reckon Prince Charles has got a humorous side. Consider this riddle: Whay did he name his town "Poundbury"? Me thinks, either hidden treasure or a real money-spinner. Of the two, the latter is my best guess!
