Just been bidding on an Ebay item.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5822698846&ssPageName=ADME:B:ONA:UK:11

The auction ended at 19:15 but I was beaten to it. At 19:25 I got an email to say that I now had a second chance to buy the item. The guy only had 10 minutes from the end of the auction to send this out.

My thoughts are that it was much too quick for the winning bidder to decline to pay. The guy might have other identical items to sell but surely he should list them seperately. Does this happen a lot? Does this look like a setup for a scam?

I wonder if he or one of his mates was bidding on it to push you along then forgot it was theirs, sort of got caught up in the excitement

He probably pumped the bid up himself with another account, found out the maximum you were prepared to pay and is now 'offering' it to you at that price.

or he may have more than 1 of the item
advertise one on ebay and pay the fees & commission and then contact the other bidders to try to sell them one off ebay - no fees or commisssion for the seller

Same thing here:

Funny thing is I think the tt pushed the price too far - especially as someone mailed the other bidders and tipped them off to what was going on :whistles innocently:

Hmmm Another 7 day auction has just started with the same product. Think I might just watch this one and see where it goes. If the same people start bidding then something if very fishy.

What made me more suspicious was that he never uses his own photos, only stock ones from the web. Makes me think he hasn't got the item.(maybe i'm wrong but hey)

Looks like thats what he is doing, nothing fishy really its just he's got a few to shift, offer him less he might take it if he's got a few to move.
