Just been having a bit of a tidy up in me Filing cabinet.

How long do you need to keep statments for..I have most back to when I started work in 87 :hehe: along with my first months payslip of a whopping £47 for a month :D

I know it was good to keep probably a couple of years back of both, but now its so easy to get your statement online is it worth keeping them at all?

Reckon I have got hald of the New forest in otherpaperwork now going through the shredder and bagging up in orange bags and send over to nonegreen to help burn his tyre tree :hehe:

My mum reckons three years tops, and she's a tax accountant so presumably knows what she's talking about. She was moaning at me for having so many.

You need to keep financial records for 7 years for tax porpoises.

I had a big fire 6 months ago, including all my original payslips from '83 and onwards; sorted out the last 7 years and put them in a big box in the loft. Another bonfire time in 7 years.
